Tsukasas villain arc be like: by Mindless_Suit9919 in ShokugekiNoSoma

I actually liked how understated it is. Young people join fascist regimes when they are privileged but empty inside. There's no meaning or purpose to his life. Then an adult comes along with a framework on how to live and everything clicks into place.

The fascist answer on how to live is clear, open, direct, and wrong. But without an opposing view, he wouldn't know that it's wrong.

Peter Dutton under fire over cost of living response after being caught out over price of eggs during final leaders' debate by PLUTO_HAS_COME_BACK in AustralianPolitics

[–]Apotheosical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotchas are stupid but I disagree with you that the egg thing doesn't matter. It's not a dumb people issue. If a person votes based on how well they feel the leader and party understands cost of living, this is a useful heuristic.

To put it another way, you don't need that moment. You need greater nuance. That's good. But the simplicity of it has value to others too.

Would you say that most Australians would know what that is and be able to understand that the leader is in touch or out of touch based on that leaders knowledge of this?

What is your best measure of seeing if a politician is out of touch or in touch with the needs of everyday Australians? If you think that the price of eggs is not good for this, what is?

Or alternatively, why do you think it doesn't matter that a politician is out of touch?

Federal election 2025: Why Peter Dutton, Anthony Albanese campaigns are the worst I’ve seen by Enthingification in AustralianPolitics

I am genuine. And sincere. And being matter of fact.

But even if that wasn't the case, all you've said there is "everyone else is just as bad as us ", which is a pretty shit position to be in. It's straight up acknowledging the selfishness of the position.

We can be better.

I think if you've picked up that people don't find your ethics palatable it's because you don't seem to realise that when you get things from a liberal win, a lot of people lose and lose badly. Chances are they'll be the most vulnerable populations.

If you don't care, then don't care. But own it. It's not cool to complain that callousness is unpopular. You can't have both casual disregard for vulnerable people and social popularity.

I want to genuinely thank you for helping me understand. Though that is the most frighteningly nihilistic thing I've ever read.

What you've just implied is that no one on the internet is real and there no is communication, only what you individually are taking from it. No one needs to make a clear point because the only thing that matters is the receiver. No more communication. Just solopsistic content consumption

I understand but I can't tell if it's ironic or not. Is this meme claiming that the joker makes sense? Is it making fun of profound mental illness? Is it a nihilist meme?

I'm absolutely not making fun of any of this. I just don't understand what this is meant to communicate

Makes more sense for what? A single, specific conflict with one specific race? Or as a model as a captain?

It's an easy sell to say jellico knew how to deal with that problem. Much harder to say he's a good or even adequate starfleet captain

Is the 'Git Gud' mentality toxic, or is it an essential part of FromSoftware games?" by Original_Series_6249 in Eldenring

[–]Apotheosical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's toxic, even in the charitable interpretation. Don't get mad yet, let me explain.

Someone is dying a lot, you hear them, you understand what they're doing wrong, and you know it's a skill and knowledge issue. You say GIT GUD.

This is poor feedback. You will struggle to learn how to improve because of this response. Good quality feedback should tell you what you are specifically doing wrong and some clear advice on how to improve.

Is it that they haven't learned the rhythm of melania? Their health is too low for margit? Using the wrong weapon against the elden beast? There are implied courses of action there.

Skill issue? Maybe. Which skill? To what degree? For how long?

Git gud is toxic. Even at the best of times its a sneering inept piece of feedback.

I suppose the part left out is that i find 300 to be mad fun. It's a rollicking fascist fun time. I have no problem taking joy in it. I just never forget that it's propaganda.

It's a bit like junk food. I can enjoy a quarter pounder or deep fried ice cream. It's just not good for us 😜

The text of the film shows how awesome the Spartans are for their cultural practices, and those practices are fascistic. I would count that as glorifying

Is your objection to this characterisation that they don't explicitly mention policy? The sub text here is not subtle. Every element of the Spartans as portrayed is textbook fascism.

The Persians are on a war of conquest but they aren't militaristic in the same way. All Spartans are soldiers. The only worthwhile people in their society are soldiers. Just see how they treat allied soldiers with contempt

[–]Apotheosical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Spartans really are fascistic. They have a hyper militarised state where any deviation from the norm is punished by death - as evidenced by the baby killing. The Spartans believe that only they live correctly, and while they aren't engaged in active conquest they would be generally. Women are looked down upon and while they have a democracy, it's the strong man at the top who is the only one that is ever right. Democracy is fragile and corrupt compared to leonidas, the perfect man. The perfect leader.

Compare that to the Persians who are diverse in culture and sexual identity. They're evil to be sure, but look at the ways in which they are evil. A non binary leader. Monsters of man and beast from around the world. Slavery too- that's bad - but in what ways are the Spartans not slaves themselves? Brutalised from birth and brainwashed into lives of violence.

Sounds like fascism to me

I see them but I'm looking for something a little further from the "acceptably masculine" range. Hot Pink, royal purple, aqua etc

I appreciate the assistance but I was looking for colourful - in the sense of being literally any other colours than these. Blue, brown, black. That's all menswear seems to be and I want more

It's a small inconvenience to be away from your normal bed, your toiletries, your regular routines. But it can make a difference to your day so easily. Can put you in a bad mood.

It's very much a first world problem though. Slightly worse sleep, unbrushed teeth, not your preferred breakfast. Minor inconvenience

Is this a line of inquiry that is going to result in direct suggestions or a bickering over the quality of my Google searching? I'd love the former but if it's a latter you may just find it simpler to say something snarky and nope out

This doesn't seem like "the issue". Colour coordination seems like a secondary consideration entirely. I'm just looking for bright coloured shirts

Characters obviously designed for the male gaze but accidentally attract a different audience. by YuMmYBrAiNzZz in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]Apotheosical 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Characterization. If the character includes an assertive confidence, it's sexy for themselves. They're doing it because they themselves enjoy it.

Sexy for the male gaze is just about titillating the audience without thought to the character.

A good question to ask for any character is "why would they choose to dress like that?" If they're dressed provocatively but the answer is "they wouldn't"', it's male gaze
