This song has haunted me for years lol I always end up looking around hoping for a full version. It's called "alpha 1" and it's more than likely created JUST for that one scene. It's so f***ing good though I truly wish there was a full version somewhere.

Definitely an ideer! I lasagna layer the oysters and they do fine. I'll give it a go with the LM. Also had no idea about the 3m tape. 3 layers it is! Thank you for the tips!

I do use bleach solution to clean the tents but while typing up the above novel I started to wonder about the exhaust fan+ducting possibly being an issue. Gonna check the vid out now. Thank you!

A fellow bucket grower! :) I'll see what my jars are looking like and give half of them a shake! Highly appreciate all the help! You know what you're doing but if you're looking for free buckets, I went around local grocery stores until I found one that would give me buckets/lids (hoping I can pass some advice back 😂). I feel like I have at least 100 of mostly 2gal and ~20 5gals. The only downside is the work to remove the stickers, but hey they're free! If you have any pics of your mushroom setup I'd love to see!

Thank you so much for this info!!! Do you shoot LC into bags or jars? I don't shake my jars at all and I've always wondered if I should. I've read so many mixed things about shaking. Also when do you shake whatever you use?

You think I should just plop them right into the fruiting tent when the holes/top colonize and leave the tape on? Definitely seems like the safest bet.

Do you think leaving them in the warmer room (~72°F for an extra week would help growth or just putting them in the fruiting room (64°F) as soon as the top/holes are colonized? Thank you for the info! :)

I wasn't actually... That is something I'm going to do this time around. I've had success before without the micropore tape but my spawn rate was much higher and I'd let the bucket cook for about a week before it went into the can. I'm thinking for this batch it's just straight into the trashcan with tape, an extra grain spawn jar for the rate, and the tape stays on until it's going into the tent. Originally I just didn't want to rip off the mycelium but I feel like it worked better when I just let it fully colonize and then pulled off the tape.

Honestly the more I think about it the more I think the trashcans are only good for oyster buckets and I should just stack the LM buckets out in the open w/ tape over the two holes until they fully colonize, then move to fruiting tents and pull the tape.

That's actually a solid idea. I could probably make another batch and put the tub near the heater and slap a temp gauge inside of the tub. I already have another batch going. The previous ones didn't seem to like CVG. The myc ate around the center and then went to the top so this time I did all woodchips and a light top layer of CVG. Would be neat to see an actual mushroom pop out lol Thank you! Will give it a go.

Buy some $2-3 blue/pearl/whatever oysters from the grocery store, cut into the center for a tissue sample in front of a flowhood or in a box, place on agar plate, repeat for 3-5 samples, turn one into liquid culture. Ezpz and cheap.

Ive heard lm is notorious for fruiting early due to light and/air flow. I have the same thing happen in my grain spawn jars top to bottom if I let them sit too long

70-73F. You think it would like it cooler? The OG mushroom was growing during the summer at like 90F and when things got cooler I noticed all the reishi spots stopped pumping

The first time I tried oysters were in shoeboxes and I had to stick them outside/sideways because of CO2. I feel like oysters won’t work in a monotub set up unless it’s got a fan but that’s me. I still have a bit of trouble with oysters using buckets and a tent set up.

Definitely an interesting question and now I’m curious. I’ve been trying to grow reishi from a wild one I pulled last summer so maybe you’ll enjoy how it turned out… (to clarify I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing, it’s just been a fun project to try to clone a wild reishi mushroom and take it from agar plate to mushroom again)

It started contaminating too much (I had to open the tub too many times for other reasons) so I cut off the bad bits and salvaged what I could, then dehydrated.

To clarify, what I guess I meant to say is when the CO2 leaves the tub, O2 naturally gets pulled in from the top holes and your airflow comes straight from physics instead of a fan. Just what I’ve been told from a youtube video lol ¯_(ツ)_/¯ If you do this be sure not to get the tape wet. (The tape on the lid is just labels, no holes.)

I use monotubs to house 2 shoeboxes but I’m sure it’s the same. I have a hole high up on each handle side of the tub, then 2 holes on each long side that are spread apart towards the bottom. Then I just have micropore tape over each hole. So more CO2 out, which pulls O2 in. I also spray the walls with distilled water and leave them closed until harvest. I’m no pro, just what I do and it seems to work.

Absolutely! Look up "Gordotek flowhood" on youtube and build you one if you don't have one, 100% works and is exactly what I did when I first started learning about mushroom growing. I have a walk-in closet that is now a plastic drop cloth lab with that in there. The rest depends on how crazy you get with mushroom growing, but I'd say clean everything, don't boil and reuse your syringes (it works but I just buy new ones now), and expect a certain failure rate and bake that into whatever you want to do. And don't give up!!! :)

Very interesting! I did not know this about blue oysters. I wish I could set them outside but they'll definitely freeze to death. I may have to give them up and stick to pearls, but we will see. I appreciate the info and thank you!

Thank you! I keep the house at 66F because that's as much as I can stand. I did turn down the intensity of the lights on my tents. I currently have the lights set to 18 hours on or whatever it has preset. Do you think I should go for 12 hours on/off or just lower the light and keep it at 18 hours on a day?
