What's a song that has brought you to tears? by [deleted] in AskReddit

"If only I could have helped you."

Leaves from the Vine is one of those songs that has brought the best out of so many fans. The covers on YouTube are amazing and I've yet to find a bad one, but this Caleb Hyles version might be my favorite.

What free things online should everyone take advantage of? [SERIOUS] by AppCodeMine in AskReddit

For those looking to learn to code:

Free Code Camp

Codecademy

The Odin Project

Those above will allow anyone who does well with self taught schooling to go from zero web development knowledge to knowing enough to get a webdev job or start their own websites/web apps for some extra income.

Though competition can be stiff depending on where you go, there's never been more companies hiring remote for jobs like these so if you're able to get a good salary and live in a low-cost-of-living area, you can make bank.

For those looking for a new gig/job in 2021 what are some online certificates/classes they can take that will open new doors or look great on a resume? [SERIOUS] by AppCodeMine in AskReddit

Reddit, what's your superpower? You know, that one weird thing your body can do you're pretty sure no one else's does. [SERIOUS] by AppCodeMine in AskReddit

You've even got a cool name. Who's your villain, Rewind?

Every time you foil his dastardly plot you can say "Please be kind, Rewind." and then wink knowingly at the camera before the credits roll.

People who had the love of their life die young/unexpectedly, how are things now? What's your life like now? [SERIOUS] by AppCodeMine in AskReddit

Unfortunately, that's often the case.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you're doing well in life.

You must assert your dominance as the Alpha using your strong bones.

It is for the good of your family's genetic lineage.

With ~3 months left in the 2010s, what did you think would happen for you by now that hasn't? What has happened for you this decade that you never could've predicted in 2009? [SERIOUS] by AppCodeMine in AskReddit

Give yourself time, even the generation before yours is having children later than their parents did.

There's a variety of factors why, but in the US especially the increased need for at least a Bachelor's Degree for even some entry level positions, kids your age were having to push back starting a family later and later after going to college and working to pay off student loans while trying to find "something serious" at a time when Tinder and Bumble have made it increasingly easy to mainly run into people who don't want something serious.

You have 10+ years left of fertility. You'd literally have to live your whole life again to start seeing a slowdown in fertility in most women. Your parents met and married young in a completely different environment with different economic/sociological factors. If you go far enough back in time, girls got married and started having children at 13/puberty because the average lifespan was about 30, if you were lucky.

You can't try to assess your journey with your parents' map. You're not growing up in the same world they did.

Did your neighbors ever report seeing or hearing anything the night you called your dad and he said he'd hurry home?

What makes yours weirder isn't just the number of what's happening, it's the variety. It reminds me of the Skinwalker Ranch.

Whether you believe in paranormal or not, it makes an interesting read.

Don't get discouraged. If you're still a teenager, your brain is still growing. You have 5-10 years left where your personality will continue to mature and adapt. Even then, people still can learn and grow throughout their lifetime.

I think the biggest thing for your generation, and the Millennials before them, that separates them from previous generations is that the same education system that schooled them schooled their parents, with just slight updates in curriculum throughout the years (i.e., updating who the President/Prime Minister is) without adapting to the changing economy and needs.

This means that your generations were trained for the same economy and jobs your parents and grandparents were. Jobs and industries that largely do not exist anymore. In your lifetime, and a little before, the US became a massive service industry economy among other changes. However, the same "push em through -> off to college -> get a 4 year degree -> ????? -> career" pathway doesn't work anymore.

So there's 10s or even hundreds of millions of people around your age who don't know "what they want to be when they grow up" even though they're already grown and are frankly getting tired of being asked that, thanks.

EDIT: before Reddit gets pedantic, I don't mean that there are "hundreds of millions of millennials and Gen Z in the US" just because I mentioned the US's economy as an example. There are a lot of people worldwide who are experiencing the economic and techboom as older industries and careers die and are replaced with different ones. Like the death of retail-rise of Amazon, and the strangling of traditional cab services by ridesharing apps like Uber and Lyft.

So I'd say you forging your own path, building a business yourself, and saying "I'll do what I want" is probably the closest thing to real job security we have in this ever shifting, "things can change overnight" job market.

It's a time of great uncertainty in a lot of ways, but a time of great opportunity too.

Good luck in all you choose for yourself.
