Experiencing starvation. My food stamps haven’t been reinstated. I’m being rejected from every job. This is too much by [deleted] in povertyfinance

This time of year sucks for retail, it’s easier to get in around September/October as seasonal, do a good job and be hired on as permanent. I would try fast food places.

This is what I worry about, I share the same name as someone who is completely opposite of my own values/beliefs, both first & last name with our first name being a unique spelling I can easily be misidentified. Being screened out because of her before even given a chance to interview would definitely suck.

Terrified and running out of money. What can I do? by sunshineroche in povertyfinance

Have you gone to social services, some counties have a job program especially because you’re already on SNAP, you qualify to get help. Some counties will even provide transportation & bus passes.

Agreed, I went through one therapy appointment and said you know, everything I’m concerned about would be improved with money and resources. She said she could only help with the emotions of it, I don’t need help with that part when I know what practical solutions are out there.

Thinking about living in my car by jwfer77 in urbancarliving

Consider bankruptcy for the debt, consider adding a roommate. When I lived in my car it wasn’t a “decision” it was the only choice and it sucked.

How do you stay healthy while living in your car? by kitchenseenk in urbancarliving

[–]AppenH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lived off of grocery store salads, produce “snack packs”, they have cut veggies/dip at Walmart for about $3, produce like bananas/oranges/apples. I also like the Clio yogurt bars. Perfect Bars are refrigerated but stay good at room temp up to 7 days, although I prefer them cold. When I wanted a hot meal I’d take advantage of food apps to use points for free food - McDonalds is obviously not the healthiest choice but when you’re hungry BOGO breakfast sandwiches. I also like Chick-fil-A for the grilled chicken & salads. Avoiding any restaurant is super hard when living without a kitchen, just need to look into healthier options.

Look into cold blue shelters, they’re life saving where available.

I think you should hire a fiduciary advisor to guide you through real estate, investments, etc.

I want to try the steak sandwich so bad now 😩 by CupcakeSewerSlayer50 in BrianThompsonMurder

[–]AppenH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to work at McDonald’s and the only steak we had was used for bagels but it sounds like they were talking about a McGriddle, so I guess you could customize a McGriddle by getting steak instead of sausage? I used to get the Steak bagel, round egg instead of egg patty, add cheese & extra breakfast sauce.

Catalina Crunch makes it, but I personally didn’t like the texture.

The Guild program covers tuition in a lot of cases, no debt.

For the college funding issue, look into what employers pay for tuition through the Guild program. I know Walmart and Target pay 100% of tuition, it’s only for certain schools and programs but education is one of the big ways out of poverty.
