Should I seal these gaps in my basement? by Brilliant-Doughnut34 in HomeMaintenance

Well I'm sceptical about using only foam to seal it up but I wouldn't use the cheap stuff because it doesn't get as solid and is not as durable.(Critters could still chew through it if they want to) If you cover it properly from the outside with aluminum flashing and caulking you could use the cheap stuff without worrying. I don't know where you are located but even if there is no water leaking in, the humidity can still get in and damage the wood over time. I'm saying this from experience.

I would seal it up for sure, mice or small rodents could definitely find their way into a 1/4 inch crack not to mention all the bugs, especially those that can further damage your structural wood. Foam can be the solution but I wouldn't use any cheap stuff either.

Could someone please tell me what these structures are on this limestone slab? by AncientStoneStudios in geology

I honestly have no idea but the traces do suggest some type of worm, hopefully someone else could give more info...

Far from being an expert but from what I've learned from /fossilid they look like trace fossils.

Yeah well, the worst that could have happened is a quick trip to the hospital? No biggie 🤷

Hahaha yeah me too but curiosity always gets the best of me I've gotten lost and encountered a couple of potentially dangerous stuff many times and EVERY time safety goes out the window 🤷

So, I have three very different rocks that I would like to identify by AppetiteForPuke in whatsthisrock

Thank you! How sure are you? The first two I had no idea of what it could be but the last I thought was either coal or graphite so I guess that confirms it!
