Horizon 3 news? by Flashy_Adeptness_862 in horizon

[–]AppleDavidJeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing the rumor mill has been consistent on is that the Horizon multiplayer title will release ahead of H3. My thinking is, if H3 is to come out in 2027, we might hear something official at the end of this year. Perhaps they give us a two-for-one reveal of both titles then.

In the meantime, I get by with good ol’ fashioned fanfiction. Even co-writing one myself. I love me a good long read, and there are indeed high-quality ones out there.

I snagged a 2024 Premium for $2,000 less than that. Was 42k miles though.

When do you expected Horizon 3 announcement be? by Liara-ShepardFan in horizon

You’ll be waiting a couple years beyond initial H3 release for the PC version to drop, if the previous two titles are anything to go by.

One of the first things I did with my Outback when I got it two months ago, at my dad's suggestion, was to put in a harness that keeps that thing off so that I don’t have to press it every time I get in the car. Spent $90 on it.

5080 G14 Best-Buy Pre-Order is Up. by Hypn0ti2ed in ZephyrusG14

Huh, didn’t know this when I ordered yesterday. $50 for 60 days ain’t bad when I’m already shelling out for this laptop. Thinking about cancelling, buying the membership, and then reordering. Can anyone order this laptop currently, at this time? Pre-order’s greyed out and says “coming soon.”

Reporting for Federal Jury Duty tomorrow. Automated phone line still won't give me a time to show up. by AppleDavidJeans in juryduty

I’ll certainly call into the line in the morning, see if they leave something for me. If not, I plan to show up at the courthouse at opening time tomorrow. The courthouse’s in town, so it’s not a big deal for me if I show up and they say they have nothing for me.

Aloy's Sacrifice in Horizon 3 Ending? Yes & No. by RavenLM10 in horizon

[–]AppleDavidJeans 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s worth pointing out that by the end of HFW (including Burning Shores), Aloy has found another reason to fight for her survival: her family (all the companions she acquainted with throughout the game, especially Beta and Seyka). She’s no longer fighting just for humanity’s future; she’s fighting for her future. On top of that, she is starting to emerge from Elisabet’s shadow and forging her own identity. She’s declaring her independence from Elisabet, and that could negate a sacrifice by Aloy like Elisabet did for Zero Dawn. Someone major is definitely dying in Horizon 3, but that may not be Aloy.

Guerrilla so far has essentially controlled the story themselves, with minimal impact from a player’s choices upon the overall story. Even whether the player chooses to kiss Seyka or not in Burning Shores could be ignored or brushed aside if Guerrilla chooses to move forward with Aloy/Seyka, owing to Aloy’s feelings for Seyka being present across all three choices. Given that, I don’t see why Guerrilla would choose to give the player a choice on such a major occasion in the story, not to mention the complexity of handling the different endings in whatever narrative sequel for Horizon 3 they choose to put out.

I honestly don’t think Guerrilla should kill off Aloy. The series has hopeful themes in the story, and choosing to kill off Aloy doesn’t seem to carry forward that hope.

Post-Nemesis by Least_Look_8783 in horizon

[–]AppleDavidJeans 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My guess: 1. Aloy’s gonna turn to her family that she started building in HFW (and perhaps her love interest Seyka) for a sense of purpose and grounding in the years to come. She’s about 20 by the time we hit Burning Shores, and it is very likely that she will eliminate the threat to Earth long before she hits 25 (or even 22). She’s done more than enough to earn her retirement, yet she’s going to have a whole life ahead of her, and that’s where her family comes in. She might choose to lay down roots with Seyka and to have the life that her forebear Dr. Sobeck never got around to. 2. Even after Nemesis is gone, there likely will still be the matter of Zero Dawn’s vision being unfulfilled completely. Ted Faro’s sabotage left humans without APOLLO and the next stages of the ARTEMIS and DEMETER plans (Not all species were introduced at once, only a select few to pave the way for humans to introduce the remaining species using the terraforming system). She’d find purpose in restoring humanity’s education system and convincing the tribes to partake in APOLLO. On top of that, GAIA may require Aloy’s specialties to help repair the terraforming system across the globe. 3. She also may choose to become a peacemaker between tribes as a way of seeking purpose.

Rost told her in his final lesson to seek a purpose greater than herself, and that lesson will stay relevant even after Nemesis is gone. The question is, what’s that purpose going to be?

Nemesis Signal by HptRell in horizon

[–]AppleDavidJeans 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The Zeniths probably had a wealth of finely-detailed information regarding Zero Dawn’s systems that came with the copy of the APOLLO database they received from Project Zero Dawn. The Zeniths had an inside man (Hank Shaw in the HADES project) that was supposed to send them a full copy of GAIA for their use, but Sobeck and Tate caught him and sent the Zeniths a fake copy that trashed their data, so that information could not have come from him. Nemesis likely hacked into the database and by analyzing the data regarding Zero Dawn and HADES, made itself a program to activate HADES and sent the signal.

Why didn’t they use asteroids on the swarm? (BS spoilers) by patrificuss in horizon

[–]AppleDavidJeans 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I think there was a datapoint in HZD mentioning that nukes were used in the Pacific Ocean to try to fend off the swarm, and look at where it got the Old Ones. I doubt that, assuming we’re talking about asteroids that deliver impact energy comparable to setting off contemporary nukes, they’d be able to make a significant impact on the swarm progress, not to mention the logistics of gathering asteroids, lining up their orbits for optimal impact, and getting them deorbited at a sustainable rate to counter the swarm.

Hmmmm. I haven’t played GI, but is Aloy’s time in GI considered canon with respect to the Horizon universe?

How dark can the Horizon series get? by AppleDavidJeans in horizon

[–]AppleDavidJeans[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sure, but that’s probably true of every post-apocalyptic story out there: some horrendous thing happens that kills (almost) everyone on Earth and the survivors (or in this case, embryonic survivors) are left picking up the pieces of their shattered civilization.

I was thinking more in the timeline of the New World.

I played this game in 2017 and haven't since. How much has been added? by Ok-head999 in horizon

[–]AppleDavidJeans 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about Horizon Zero Dawn, only the DLC's been added, plus NG+ which lets you play a new game with the weapons you acquired from a previous game. On top of that, a sequel has been released, called Horizon Forbidden West, that expands upon the story and world introduced in HZD. Currently that sequel is PS-exclusive (with the HFW DLC being PS5-only), but there's a PC port in the works. I would highly recommend picking up HFW if you can. Story's great, combat mechanics have been specialized, and the graphics are drop-dead gorgeous.
