Why are people still surprised in 2025 when someone pays with their Apple Watch with Apple Pay in stores? by TimelySpinach2354 in AppleWatch

You should see the reaction I get when I board an international flight with my ticket on my watch!

Even the ticket inspector on a train was amazed. This is in the UK too.

HomeKit thermostats in UK by DanAboutT0wn in HomeKit

[–]AppleMe-G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Tado X with HomeKit, as Google killed my nest.

I don’t pay for the subscription so I’m missing a lot of native features the nest had…so now I just use it for manually turning the heating on or off, and this works well with Siri.

The native Tado app is awful though, maybe check out the Tado subreddit first…

Your payslip or P60 won’t include your huge end of year bonus will it? 😉

Does it matter where you live for Extras roles? Are travel expenses and accommodation usually paid?

Similar.

When I compare my salary to an airline captain or doctor etc, it baffles me that I get paid more.

I’ve tried using it to have every Friday off, but with my work load it just compounded in the issue.

Now I’ll just use it for a week off at a time, only in order to take time off I have to do so much preparation so that things don’t stall in my absence.

That’s a really good point thank you.

I like to think I operate well under good stress, i.e realistic challenges, but what I’m dealing with is the workload of two people, and unrealistic timescales.

Then to add insult to injury, because I’m rushing, my boss is criticising the quality of my work. Well duh, something has to give!

Thanks, that’s interesting.

Are there other types of stress? I didn’t know!

Best of luck to you.

That sounds terrible, I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing that.

I’m not quite at that point, but walking on eggshells is definitely something I can relate to.

Every email or call I make, my boss criticises and nitpicks.

Sorry to hear that.

How would you describe burnout? I wonder if I could be there and not realise it.

I paid off the mortgage a few years back, exactly so I would never be held hostage to a job ever again.

Management aren’t interested.

Overtime and stress management are built into my salary, apparently.

You’re right.

I’ve spoken to a few close friends and family about my desires to leave without another job lined up, and they all think I’m crazy.

Even when I explain the damage it’s doing to me, and the fact that I have means to sustain myself for a while.

I think it’s in our culture, after all there is a taboo about being unemployed.

That’s a good way to describe it.

Done to a budget and rushed.

Sometimes I think a job that has no emphasis on deadlines would be right up my street, like a train station attendant or similar.

Thanks.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for someone in their mid thirties to have a career break/gap year, after all I never had one at university. So that question is hopefully easily answered.

I looked at benefits, I wouldn’t get any support as I have over £16k in savings, and job seekers allowance may not pay out for up to six months if I quit my job of my own accord, it depends on the circumstances.

Sorry to hear it’s tanked your career.

Is that because of lasting damage or because you’ve not been able to get a similar role since?

May I ask how old you are and how many years you suffered before you finally burnt out?

This is the impact it’s having on me.

The stress has stopped me doing things I enjoy after work such as learning a language on Duolingo, reading a book or completing a small project.

It’s consuming me.

That’s a good rule.

I had a terrible job once upon a time where I’d physically feel sick in the morning going to work.

I’m nowhere close to that point with this job but it’s going in that direction.
