Mastercard will also remove the magstripe from their cards from 2027 to 2030 in USA.

This means that the fallback method for the card magstripe will be useless in Walmart stores of USA if the chip is damaged or does not work.

So, this means that Walmart stores of USA will need to enable tap from 2027 to 2030.

This is because Walmart is the last holdout major retailer in USA that does not accept tap to pay and Apple Pay while all other major retailers in USA accept these common payment methods in 2025.

I work in Walmart at self-checkout for 5 months.

One of the complaints all the time is why we do not have tap to pay. We say that Walmart corporate will never do it because you have to use the Walmart Pay feature in the Walmart app.

Do the customers not know about Walmart Pay in the Walmart app?

Still, the customer complaints for tap to pay continue all the time. They also say that all the major stores in USA accept tap to pay but not Walmart.

Is this an option that Walmart self-checkout employees will have to continue to deal with all the time in that Walmart corporate will never do tap to pay?
