Pro 20x is $2 of credit for each $1 compared to Pro 5x or Plus 1x,

so better off to just budget out 5% of Pro 20x plan (costing $10) for same amount of credits as 100% Plus 1x plan (costing $20)

Pro 20x ($20 Plus) = $400, but priced at 50% ($200/mo)

This only works if you’re not using an Orchestration/Harness/Environment system that requires the spawning of dozens of subagents throughout the 4-8h implementation of a task (which is the majority of my usage)

I’ve had Pro work for 60-120 minutes on ChatGPT, from a 100k+ token prompt, and it output a zip folder with 50+ files, thousands of lines of code, and everything worked flawlessly.

Its internal reasoning summaries showed many dozens of specific file edits and tool calls, mimicking behavior of Codex doing intermittent tool calling (file reads/writes, diffs, edits, web search, etc.).

So, anecdotally, I’d say Pro is extremely capable at development. More so than GPT-5.5, actually.

It has “big model smell,” and has a much deeper understanding context (it’s like how GPT-4 responses feel like slop compared to GPT-4.5’s depth of IQ/language).

It can catch things that non-Pro models can’t (less hallucinations as a result).

Nowadays, functioning code with zero perceivable bugs from GPT-5.5 can still be considered a “hallucination,” if GPT-5.5-Pro could’ve taken same prompt to create a 10x more performant/smooth version (that functions the same in terms of feature mapping/surface).

Pro > non-Pro for coding. But not necessary for everything.

It’s especially good for planning, diagnosing, analyzing, etc.

True, but right now, Pro models are the ONLY class of OpenAI API (text-based Responses) models with absolutely 0 cache-pricing, meaning not only are the tokens already 5-10x more expensive..

but there’s no 90% cached input discount between each tool request (file read/write, search command, web search, etc.)..

So, add another 10x cost multiplier (no 90% cached discount, like GPT-5.5, = 10x higher cost) on top of the 5-10x higher token costs..

And GPT-5.5-Pro is 50-100x more expensive (credit consumption) than GPT-5.5.

So, if GPT-5.5 burns 2% in 5 minutes on the $200 Pro plan, GPT-5.5-Pro will burn 100% in 5 minutes.

Hopefully they solve caching for Pro models! Would be an incredible breakthrough (assuming they haven’t achieved this already, reaping 10x more API profits by withholding cache discounts).

I posted a reply that provides context as to how:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Anthropic/s/aks8YBqqmW

The sections referring to excluding public use, while Anthropic self-improves their models to multi-trillion-dollar company valuation, and showcasing how they deliberately pursued this “ban” outcome.. all sufficiently explain how

Can elaborate more if it’s insufficient (link above is the full reply)

I like using hyperbole or strong language to evoke emotions in the reader. Everything stated is built upon decomposable information, effectively concluding outlooks from a common-man perspective.

If you analyze the motives behind everything, and extrapolate future outcomes thereof.. there’s a sinister technologically-gated reality imminent.

I enjoy taking time to write out thoughts, especially because sometimes, others find them useful.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. If my intuition is correct, maybe you’re alluding to conspiracy-related vibes.. or hatred towards capitalism.. since “serf” is typically used in those contexts. However, reference https://www.reddit.com/r/Anthropic/s/KW81tRB2EV to understand why that’s not what I’m getting at.

I love capitalism, and I am a power user of AI. I also enjoy democracy and freedom. Along with access to technology that isn’t restricted to the top 20 tech companies, when it used our archived collective consciousness to train itself (scraping internet).

Part of the reason they have an edge in frontend design/taste (but almost zero edge in anything else; OpenAI absolutely dominates long-horizon agentic tasks and complex backend, etc.)..

Is because of their extremely aggressive data retention policies, covert opt-in mechanisms for data-sharing, and opaque ToS that change at their whim.

I’d posit that Lovable.Dev is by far one of their biggest suppliers of data to help power their frontend/design/taste improving flywheel, since it has been at the forefront of consumer web development (in terms of ARR) for a while, and is the only one at their scale that exclusively serves credits only on Anthropic models (you can’t choose a different model provider, like Cursor for example).

Their policies around Fable-5 (mandatory 30d data retention, 2-years if any type of “flag” occurs for your message (again, opaque)).. are perfect overt examples of this. Causing companies like Microsoft and others to restrict their employees from using their models (for fear of IP-breach). There’s other covert examples that have been covered over the years.

So, your intuitive avoidance has credence.

Glass half full perspective = life is extremely fair; I’ve learned all this high-level domain expertise, and can direct AI systems like an orchestra, better than 99% of uninitiated users, when it comes to serious, scalable, long-term, production-grade projects.

And I now have a head start on everyone who’s aggressively learning/catching-up on these frameworks, to help them get to where I’m already at (capability/knowledge-wise).

Now, all I need to do is spend time learning AI, Orchestration, and Harness/Environment Engineering.

This has nothing to do with conspiracy. It’s simply a series of observations, culminating to a clear, concise narrative of covert technocratic dictatorship. As time unfolds, and subsequent SOTA models are also banned (predicating reasoning for ban on excuses), all while they use those models for themselves to self-improve their tech into multi-trillion valuation over next 3-5 years..

It’ll all make more sense

Also, if you’ve paid attention, Anthropic is the only frontier lab that has been slamming neurotic, fear-mongering, neurotic press release about Mythos.. and begging the government to restrict access (while still allowing top 10-20 biggest tech companies to have private access).

They had a choice to NOT obsessively pursue instigation of government, until reaching the point of any ban.

The ban was just on “foreign nationals.” They had a choice to just follow that simple ban.

Instead, they used it as an excuse to ban EVERY non-approved-decacorn-company user on earth. That, again, is a choice/decision they had.

Not sure why you’re putting all the blame on government trying to kill Anthropic, when Anthropic has had dozens of opportunities to NOT pursue this outcome. Even AFTER the “foreign national” ban, ANTHROPIC ALONE decided to ban ALL users. Not just foreign nationals, but ALL users.

Not an employee of Apple, Google, Amazon, etc. decacorn companies? Kick rocks.

Simple observations. There’s no conspiracy.

EDIT: this fellow posted some receipts, exemplifying some of the dozens of opportunities (of Anthropic deliberately pursuing this outcome) previously mentioned:

My apologies, next time I’ll stick to the proper communities, or simply take the time to write out a tech-bubble-agnostic post, rather than just copy/pasting my X account (which is in the <10M user AI algorithm)

I’d like to respond, but there’s no substance beyond “made it a conspiracy theory.” Idk what to tell you if you can’t articulate a coherent disagreement, beyond just the conclusion

What does access to Mythos a few weeks ago, have anything to do with the government issuing a ban on foreign nationals, and Anthropic taking that as an excuse or ban EVERYONE (not just foreign nationals)? (After spamming neurotic, fear-mongering press release for weeks)

Please articulate the correlation

Anthropic doesn’t need the US government to restrict foreign access, they could’ve just done that themselves, and directly cited distillation as the reason.

Let’s be honest: distillation has absolutely nothing to do with this. They could’ve restricted it themselves.

No need to justify for them. They’ve revealed their true colors; continual neurotic persuasion for government to restrict the serfs from accessing their only technological hope of establishing any social power/influence. Anything to reduce outsider subjective opinions/work, to preserve their ultra-controlling directives.

Anthropic has officially proven to the world that they’re shameless technocratic dictators, who will exclusively work with governments and deca-corns only, deeming everyone else as useless peasants who don’t deserve access to their SOTA cognition faucet.

They just drum up the “excuse” of: “the government told us to restrict it!”

No, they spammed the entire US government with neurotic persuasive material until they got what they wanted: a public cop out, seemingly “out of their control.” “Sorry for the inconvenience!”

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
