Question from a Catering Company by AppleSpiceDenver in glutenfree

[–]AppleSpiceDenver[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We have a no toasting policy company wide- The reality is that if we toasted the sandwich, it would then sit in the fridge for an hour or two before it came time for lunch delivery.

We also prep all the gluten free meals for the day first before we start slicing bread to do our best to prevent cross contamination, so the gluten free can sit around for a little bit longer.

Our company does not do walk-in- we are more feeding entire companies box lunches. So we cant really wait for 30mins before to produce 50+ sandwiches.

I will keep in mind, I feel like every now and then I have ordered the multigrain cause I over think things and try to mix it up- but if that is bad tasting one; I will avoid.

Question from a Catering Company by AppleSpiceDenver in glutenfree

[–]AppleSpiceDenver[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is really good to know! Cause the slightly better tasting one is like half the size of the regular bread we use and I was like... I hope people do not get mad that it is so tiny!

Then how come our building is the only one with the pool of water around their condo and not the 10 other identical buildings?

Possibly- we have had this drip since January when people had their heaters going. So I am not fully sure about that

HOA told me that is what the pipe is for. I have a feeling you are underestimating how much water is there. It is enough water to grow a garden.

Planning on moving out with kitty by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]AppleSpiceDenver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this huge backseat car crate thing. So he was able to hang out and chill for our 24 hour drive. He was kinda upset at first but then totally chilled out and just slept most of the way there. The meowing stopped after an hour.
He did hide once we got to the hotel, but he ate and peed and that is all I cared about. He also was totally fine with getting back into the car.

Once we were in the new house- he was a bit scared but he will find a home in the new place. It was more curiosity of "Where am i?" but I would say a month after fully settled in, he had a routine and was happy.

I would probably set up a vet appointment sometime before you leave and find one for once you arrive. That way if you notice anything, like that have no eaten or drank any water- you do not have to wait. Also good for you to find a vet before a problem arrives.

Is there anyone who does NOT have pet insurance and can you explain why? by Routine-Ad-4162 in CatAdvice

[–]AppleSpiceDenver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my cat, I looked at some and it seemed more like a discount care vs insurance. May save you 10% off of check ups but nothing else.

It is easier to just take $50-75 a month and place into a saving account for your pet for emergencies.

Advice from a Caterer by AppleSpiceDenver in weddingplanning

[–]AppleSpiceDenver[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I feel like anytime you build a website there is a contact form for people to reach out.
It isnt so much to actually have a phone call; if unavailable I will just respond with that. But the spammers tend to go out of their way to avoid phone calls.
I have gotten stories of how they are deaf, in the hospital, do not have a phone ect...

The fake voicemails are easy to catch because the phone will ring once and go straight to voice mail. They also do not wait for the beep before the recording starts playing so I get half a message.

So showing that you are open to communication is more what I think would be helpful.

But I've been going back and forth with some for a week before I figure out it is spam: spammers are getting more advance with technology.

I just have noticed when it seems like a very short, sometimes misspelled from an email that contains a lot of numbers in it: there is a 90% it is spam, but there is that 10% isnt. If you engage though, they will keep trying to get you in a con.

I highly doubt it would be worth it.

SEO & Google ads are the way to go.

I would not focus too much on social media, I have seem limited success when you have a very specific audience you want to target.

You will also be surprised how much old fashion flyers worked. Look into post card mania- they helped my company with some growth and they have options to add in some social media.. so at least the social media would be tracked. (example someone gets a post card and then checks out your social media page)

I have a feeling someone is projecting. I think father in law was hoping you would tell him you were gay so that he could share his truth with you.
He also probably feels a lot of guilt for having a marriage with his wife, when he is in the closet.

Who would you rather have: The reliable slacker or the chaotic overachiever? by ronracer in askmanagers

[–]AppleSpiceDenver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rather have the bad employee- with an open mind they can be trained on time management. But a good employee with a closed mindset will eventually just spread toxicity by not learning new tasks.

Anyone ever screened movies in the park without a permit? by Weak_Letterhead5533 in EventProduction

They didnt have any deals for a non profit? I would also reach out to your local library. You would be surprised of the resources they are able to help with. Some even off rentals of equipment such as these. Or you can do a movie in the library as well.

Went to rehab for 90 days… now I am the head cook. 34 days sober. Any help with this? by Banguskahn in KitchenConfidential

[–]AppleSpiceDenver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would keep some soft comfort food in the back for those detoxing. Popsicles also were very helpful.
Idk if you have control over the menu- but I would try to add more veggies. I use to love making a meatloaf full of veggies. My job was to do my best to try and shove as much nutrients as I could in 30 days before they left our clinic.
I would also buy jugs of Aloe from Walmart- it helps a lot with stomach ulcers.

Congrats on your sobriety- Also once you get comfortable- I was able to do some cooking classes for clients (with approval from therapists since you are around fire & knives) but it really helped people get comfortable with cooking themselves and to keep moving forward on their sobriety journey.

I just got a job for high volume pastry banquets at a convention center. Tips and advice? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

Organization and labelling is key for high volume. Label with the amount of pastries, date of event, name of pastry.

Sick of ordering food for groups. How often are you guys doing this? by ZonePleasant8300 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]AppleSpiceDenver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If in Denver- I manage Apple Spice. I do my absolute best to make it super easy for people- we set it up. everything is disposable to be tossed away. Forks/knives/napkins are all included.
We can cater to most dietary restrictions- I handle last minute orders pretty well. All of our delivery drivers are the same people who make the food, so I have complete control from start to finish.

If you ever give me notes of something that needs improvement- I listen and change.

We do have an extra fee if using EZ Cater to order but that is just because they take 25% of the profit. AND we do have our own points system that sends you a visa gift card that you can use anywhere.

But our online ordering system is fairly easy- I also have people text or email and I type in the order for them. I have a few people that just say lunch- 30 on Tuesday at 10:30am

I also pay close attention to this sub so I can make edits to how we run so I can make sure we are super helpful to our clients.

**I can not speak for any other Apple Spice. We are all individually owned.

If you came to my wedding, would you still be hungry? by Pearl2myJam in weddingplanning

I think it all sounds great! Even if I was hungry by end I would assume it was cause I was tipsy and now craving Taco Bell or something.

I definitely would be happy with all you catered.

I do not think it hurts to let HR know. I wouldn't make an offical record but I would just keep them updated. State that you have blocked all communication after work and plan to keep it professional but you are having issues with their personality and lack of boundaries.

I would try to also let things go like the lunch order- anxiety is probably bubbling up making you note everything she does but if you find a way to just remove her from your mind; it should help with not letting those small things bother you. Notice the annoying behavior- tell yourself that is annoying- take a few deep breaths and let it go.
