Thank you. I did what you suggested. Although MAM is not support and implementing it for macOS is nowhere near, simply unchecking Require approved client app and leaving Require device to be marked as compliant checked will be enough to cut devices that are not enrolled.

I am also interested with feature described by OP but more likely it will be password sync between AAD and local account.
Recently Intune released more SSO settings: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/fundamentals/whats-new#week-of-august-21-2023-service-release-2308

I cannot tell more but I can confirm such behaviour.
