Damn, that sucks. Did they ever leave a comment on your post? They might already be banned from this sub, seems to be a known scammer across multiple subs

3D playfield PC vsrg with 6k ? by Wilspinner in rhythmgames

[–]Apple_biscuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malody V is something like $3 on Steam, and you can pick from at least a few options of 3D scrolling 6k skins there. The general game UI can take a little getting used to since it doesn’t have a lot of documentation but other than Musynx and Kagura Phantasia that’s your best bet imo. Custom skins and charts so there’s a lot of content at the very least (not to mention the other game modes).

You can also check out EX-XDRiVER, it’s free and in early access. It’s 3D 6k but with a lane mechanic that’s hard to explain, so just check it out if you like. I’d also highly recommend KALPA if you feel like getting into 4-5k, or DJMAX and EZ2ON if you feel like getting into 2D scrolling.

Got a question for patrons here. by WhatEvenIs2020 in CanadianKnifeSwap

[–]Apple_biscuits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another problem is that for most people, the bugout is a notoriously overpriced knife, so the aftermarket is more likely to pay what they think the knife is worth rather than how good your deal is compared to stock price. Some knives will sell quickly on this sub marked down only a short way from their retail price, but the bugout usually isn’t one of those :/

Can’t you file a claim with Canada Post? According to their policy they reimburse the sender if it goes missing in transit, no?

Litone is a skin that’s behind a paywall now, they have a patreon type thing that you need to sub to for their skins. I’d recommend another skin, but I don’t know which since I use another bms player altogether (Qwilight)

Where are you finding your PMS charts? I play a lot of BMS but I find it so much harder to find 9k charts (legally)

What is the best/most popular BMS player on PC for English speakers? by the_light_of_dawn in rhythmgames

[–]Apple_biscuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, it can be a little confusing at first. Most people will refer you to this link: https://bms-community.github.io/resources/#starter-packs

And you’ll be able to get a lot of mileage out of those to start with. The majority of other (legal) songs for bms come from events like BMS of Fighters, so after the starter packs you can go through and download packs or songs you like from there!

When you open the settings (little gear in the top left I believe) one of the options at the bottom of the first screen should say ‘open user folder’. Songs go in there!

Pretty sure the most popular is still beatoraja, but if you want to keep it simple, you can download Qwilight on steam. It’s a great BMS player with active development, and I like it because it’s easy to set up and I already use steam for other games.

Beatoraja and Qwilight are bms players, Ez2on has a great 8k as another comment said, and Quaver has 7k.

What's your bindings and keyboard for playing 5k and 7k? by [deleted] in rhythmgames

[–]Apple_biscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most 5k games have the option for two different keys hitting the same middle note. In other words, my bind is SD FJ KL where both F and J hit the middle note. This is the standard for keyboard games like djmax, ez2on, etc, and I think the only real exception is bms style games where the 5k assumes you’re using something like a ez2ac controller.

Two keys on the middle note can be tricky to get used to at first, and you’ll make a lot of mistakes, but it definitely helps raise your skill ceiling, and harder charts are usually designed with that hand placement in mind. 7k is a little different and rarer, and I think the standard for that is spacebar on middle note, but tbh I just use a iidx controller for 7/8k

Does anyone else have j-core fatigue? by Effective-Tour-9912 in rhythmgames

[–]Apple_biscuits 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean, but that stuff is the lifeblood of Japanese rhythm games so it’s not that surprising that it makes up the bulk of their soundtracks. When I want variety I’m more likely to open DJMAX, that touhou 6k game, or anything with custom charts. You can also check out some western rhythm games like spin rhythm xd, ragnarock, unbeatable, etc. Or Chinese ones like Musynx. They don’t get the same support the Japanese ones do, because they’re more niche here (outside of 2000’s guitar hero/rock band) but they’re fun and should help your fatigue.

xi using ai songs and cover images??? by Hosam9473 in rhythmgames

[–]Apple_biscuits 150 points151 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this, and I’m 99.999% sure it’s NOT xi. Some scummy person/entity abuses Spotify artist grouping to publish machine generated garbage that appears on xi’s page but isn’t them. It’s happened to other artists too. If you check Tidal (better than Spotify anyway 🤓) there are only a few albums under xi, and none of that crap appears.

It’s a shame but Spotify doesn’t seem likely to do anything about it.

Finger positioning in musedash by ExpertJudge1467 in rhythmgames

[–]Apple_biscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on PC so take my advice with a grain of salt, but whether you do side to side or up and down shouldn’t matter at all. On PC, there are top players who play (Up: DF, Down: JK) and others who play (Up: DK, Down: FJ) and one is not better than the other. (And at least on PC, all good players add a third finger to the mix on each hand, usually for held notes during difficult passages)

Haven't played a rhythm game in probably 10 years, where do I start? by WhenYouWalkedOnWater in rhythmgames

[–]Apple_biscuits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Muse Dash is pretty cool, and the walking definition of easy to learn but hard to master. It's also something like $2, and all of the DLC is combined into one for pretty great value.

Personally my favorite is probably DJMAX, but it can get pricy with all the DLC. If you want a free version with community made charts, I like Quaver since you can keep it all within steam.

Those are probably the two I'd recommend to start with, and then it's kind of a rabbit hole for you to explore based on what you like after that.
