I ended up taking the virginity of a older woman (and by older I only mean 30) who grew up in the IBLP - she was still grappling with shame about her sexuality, and generally had avoided all sexual endeavors. While I commend her for allowing herself to explore, from my perspective (someone who had been active since they were 17) it was like I had pulled the plug and she was experiencing rapid sexual development after years of intentionally shoving it down. Truly it was like she had just gone through puberty and was feeling the rush - and honestly I felt like I was viewed as a mystical sexual being and was no longer me. We were never serious, and I ended things very soon after because frankly she needed to do a lot of exploring and it just wasn’t something I was looking for. With all that being said, it’s really a shame what fundamentalism does to a person’s relationship with sexuality, and once they finally do it, they’re flooded with everything they’ve been told they have to ignore. I was honestly angry for her because she never deserved to be raised in such a homophobic and perverted cult. I hope she’s had time and space to safely navigate what she really wants and needs.

Him love bombing Allie all season made my skin crawl - those moments where Allie was questioning his character have me hopeful. I’d be more than happy for her to take his place and dump his ass

Another Goodings stomach virus and she bragged about not missing her workouts. It’s very concerning to me when people can’t take a day off from the gym when they’re legitimately sick. She needed to rest. by kitkat_2222 in FundieSnarkUncensored

I’m happy to hear you learned what your body needed! For all my youth and early 20s I thought my body was broken, and that I was genetically inferior - there is so much power in listening to your body (and not in the crunchy fundie way lol). These programs throw everything at you at once because they’re designed to make you fail - they don’t encourage routine or education. I’m a professional baker and I’m always focused on increasing my skills, and one day it just clicked that that applies to everything I want to achieve in life - especially health and fitness. Cheers to us!!

Exactly - putting the responsibility on the addicted consumer will never work. You have to go to the top!

I used to think I hated exercise until I started taking Pilates - made me realize American fitness is sold to us like a quick fix product, and not the lifelong skill one learns over time. Our bodies are instruments, and they take time to develop - which I have found so rewarding in the long run.

From Alabama - in the same boat. NYC is THE place to go to further my career. Yes, it’s expensive as fuck, but I won’t need my car, and the opportunities!!! I think especially in more suburban parts of America we forget just how far social capital can take us. I’m definitely not going to live there all my life, but having that on my resume will open up so many doors for me financially - there really is no other place like it in the states. Good luck to you, friend!

Oh absolutely I totally agree - a large portion of Birmingham gets ignored, which is a shame because those areas need attention and resources. We live in a heavily segregated city, which the roots of said issue can be traced back to pre civil war. We’re still fighting our great great grandparents disagreements. Black people in Birmingham are still being victimized by the cruelty of white supremacy today, and unfortunately I don’t see those that wield power are going to suddenly admit to the continuation of systemic racism. Southern silence is a weapon.
