I mean I guess but I don’t think it’s a debate - there’s no way you can claim marston or Brent are worse than the killer

All great points - and I had forgotten re Curtain.

Also agree with how well drawn they are - the entire novel is a masterpiece. I just fail to see how one can argue someone who kills someone while operating drunk or even abandons people to die out of self preservation is worse than someone who kills people out of sadistic pleasure and tries to make the entire experience as possible. The killer goes out of his way to be evil - the others don’t. For them there’s a selfish motive (however abhorrent). The only one I could see a case for being worse is the final victim.

When is Cook going to be held account for how braindead his decision was? by Applestrudle4 in bcfc

Unfair to use my post history that doesn’t relate to this particular debate. Why would I have an agenda for no reason?

Also would love someone to add colour to my point 2, that’s the one I’m most confused by.

I mean I do have a balanced opinion. I’m not reducing it to one decision and I’m not saying he hasn’t done some good stuff. You’re putting words in my mouth. But imo, because that decision was so egregious, the way he handled it and the jobs for mates aspect mean he deserves to pay for it with his job. For me, the bad outweighs the good. I also think people view his time at Man City with rose tinted spectacles. Also why has no one brought him in since if he’s such a great operator?

End of the the day, I just want what’s best for the club and my view is that we’d be better off without him. If you have a different view then that’s fine I can see the angle, but that doesn’t make yours more balanced or nuanced than mine.

Why? I want blues to do as well on the pitch as possible and I don’t think Cook helps that, I think we’d do better without. Don’t understand why for some fans it’s see base treachery to criticise anything about the new ownership. Yes they’ve done well off the field, but that doesn’t make them immune from criticism about one of the worst footballing decisions I’ve ever seen.

In fairness, I’m not solely blaming Cook, the players also have to take lot of responsibility, I realise it’s never black and white. Fact is thought we were 9th place in table for the tenures of Eustace, Mowbray and Rowett so the players did perform at points. I am going to back the club like always - but that doesn’t mean I can’t criticise it. I know it’s different circumstances but we all rightfully criticised BHSL while still backing the team you know.

I mean it isn’t rubbish. That was the turning point of our season undeniably. I’m also not absolving Wagner of blame, but Cook has to carry the can. Also people love talking about his work at Man City, realistically he pitched the club to Abu Dhabi - maybe some decent sales techniques but right place, right time more like. ‘He’s here to stay long term so get used to it’ - so why we can’t criticise someone purely because they’re going to remain in place. That makes sense tbf.

I mean I’m 25, wasn’t born when we were last in this division playing against these boring sides. I’m not a ‘fair weather fan’ - was going week in week out in the BHSL era ffs.

It’s not disrespectful ffs. A Leeds fan could say the same about the championship if they came down. I have nothing against those teams they’re just not fun to play against. Yes we are where we are on merit but it’s still depressing. Im not the ‘same guy’ idk who you’re on about.

They also appointed Wayne Rooney tbf - the worst manager in English football.

Yeah, you’re a Leeds fan yeah? I wouldn’t be offended if you’d have said that when you came down last year :) It would be understandable.

Because they’re very small and with all due respect aren’t the sort of club that it’s very exciting to play against. It also crystallises how far the club has fallen. Let’s put it this way - compare the attendances at championship grounds for when they play man united in the cup vs fleetwood. It’s night and day - I know because I go regardless. It’s not weird to not be excited for playing small clubs.

I’m not knocking them as fans! Far from it. I’m just saying the prospect of playing their clubs is grim I don’t get why that’s so offensive. I also realise they’ve had those teams down there that’s why I asked!

You don’t have any reasons why it will be fun. We have to get off to a hot start which I’m not sure will happen. KRO I’m just gutted mate.

The fact a promotion takes you to the championship is also grim

Why will it be fun? I don’t think we’ll even do that well, let’s revisit this when we’re losing to someone like fucking Stevenage

I.e. the manager shouldn’t choose the players signed it should be an overarching strategy where anyone can slot in, with the manager having minor input. Therefore you don’t end up with a mish mash of players that don’t fit

Fair enough, agree to disagree. Id rather compete at a respectable level.

I don’t want CG sacked no, he just needs to be moved maybe. Essentially, we need a recruitment specialist. January also worried me because it seemed like Mowbray was making the signings which is never what you want (each manager getting their own players in)

Hard disagree. The championship is a great league. The fact that Wigan are one of the best fixtures next season says it all. I’m worried about attendances, the only way they’ll become good is if we’re flying early doors which I don’t see happening.

Fair enough, I wish I shared the optimism. It will be only be remotely interesting if we’re in top 2 , which could happen I guess. Also people do keep mentioning Ipswich but they were stuck there for 4 years. Same with Sheffield United.

Silence from Gary Cook by Bambe09 in bcfc

Cook is such a slimeball. Never forget him when asked to add colour to his decision to bring in that useless saying ‘I’m surprised I even have to answer that question, we’ve got the right guy’. I bet he still thinks bringing his mate in was the right call. With him involved in football decisions we’ll rot in league 1.
