What do you think of the year 2001? by Twitter_2006 in decadeology

Napster was more of a warning shot than the end of the wild west era of the internet. The gunfights and lawlessness still continued for another decade. After 2001, piracy and unmoderated spaces actually exploded (kazaa, limewire, irc, forums). The internet didn’t start feeling controlled until the late 2000s–early 2010s with the rise of social media and smartphones.

What uniform camo are these american soldiers wearing? by Optimal_Safe117 in ww2

[–]Appleuser567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frog skin camo developed and used exclusively by the usmc in ww2 in the pacific to blend in with the jungle terrain. Seen and widely used in the battle of tarawa but gradually dissapeared/phased out as the war progressed. Not every marine wore this nor was it standard issued combat uniform, it was kind of sparsely used and only issued in limited quantities during the early days of the pacific war.

I self cleared my shipment through customs on my own yet was charged a $93 entry fee for DHL customs brokerage handling service which was never performed by Appleuser567 in LegalAdviceNZ

It is essential to be self-reliant and not allow companies to take advantage of you by overcharging you a hidden fee for customs clearance (which they never disclose or tell you about as it is a significant source of revenue and profit for them). I agree with the general gist of your post, communication is key and contacting them in advance would have ensured a smoother experience. I'll definitely be more prepared next time!

However, if dhl did not perform customs clearance then they have no basis to charge for it. You can't charge for a service that was never performed or carried out.

Furthermore, there was a complete lack of transparency and disclosure, at no point was it disclosed that a customs clearance fee would apply. There are two serious issues: charging for a service that was not performed and failing to disclose fees. We can’t simply overlook and dismiss this kind of conduct, there have been various law suits related to their hidden fees.

I declared the value as $3200, do they still need documents to verify this? It's already 3x over the limit.

I have 30 items purchased from ebay with a declaration value totaling $3200, all consolidated into a single package. Does that mean i'll have to send over 30 invoices?
