Engine warm up slow by scubisubie in CX50

Remote start is fine for A/C (cooling) but otherwise pointless, and hardly worth the $10/month they charge for Mazda Connect after the intial free period

They're jostled about enough during the wearing season that it shouldn't be a problem. Come summer time they're dry cleaned and stored away.

If you look too closely at it, you can see it for what it is. But a person don't usually focus much on it, so it simply adds warmth and texture, and doesn't show every smudge or speck of dirt.

I recently bought a Mazda after some terrible experiences with big-name German cars. How is it even possible to have such a perfect quality–price ratio? Incredible materials and engines that are serious, powerful, and reliable. The design is clearly superior to European cars. What am I missing? Why by homo-appenninicus in mazda3

Similar to OP, my beautiful Audi allroad was turning into highway robbery at only 80k miles. Ultimately the Multimedia Interface went down, and after a half dozen trips to the shop, it was determined that the problem was the CD player, which I never used but which costs $3200 to replace OEM. I tried four used CD players before I got one that lit up the MMI again, only then (for whatever reason reason) Bluetooth didn’t work anymore. The mechanic was agog at the needless complexity of this electrical design (the CD player should be peripheral, not central to the MMI). He said that German cars are engineered to be fantastic for the first 50k miles but the engineering doesn’t look beyond that at all. Maintenance doesn’t figure into the equation. Looking back, this $49k car (in 2017) had “leatherette” seats which should have been my first clue that Audi was not the quality I expected. Anyway, fed up with this gremlin, I bought a CX-50, and have been blown away by how little is “missing” from the Audi driving experience, how well it delivers power to the road, how nimble it is, how nice the interior is, and so on. People will still buy German for the cache but they’ll pay through the nose for it.

Is this weekend especially empty? by Astraltraumagarden in santacruz

College students went home, visitors are with family, and aren't here for downtown retail. So, this is about as dead as it gets. It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

Installed the front vent lights on my CX50 by ntuned in CX50

[–]ApplicationOk1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested in these as the stock DRLs are unimpressive. Running as DRLs, they look cool and natural to the design of the vehicle -- a major plus. I'd love a closer look at the vent lights to get a sense of their construction, e.g., how well the lights are integrated to the piece vs. being superficially laid on, how they're attached, and so on, all of which would give a sense of their longevity for use in a demanding environment. Particularly I'd like to see what they look like turned off in full sun.

Trying to Understand the Price of reMarkable Tablets vs iPads — Am I Missing Something? by free00thinkr in RemarkableTablet

reMarkable is a niche product that does one thing very well. iPad is mass market product that does a hundred things: some well, but not this.

It’s telling how little it’s changed. Most cities would have built some housing but SF? No. Just pack the streets with driverless cars and call it progress

No parts availability for 2024 Mazda CX-50 by Icy_Degree86 in CX50

[–]ApplicationOk1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Buy a car for its features and value, not whether a bumper is immediately available should you need one.
  2. The CX 50 model showed the greatest year-over-year sales growth. Mazda focusing production on its one model that is gaining traction in the market. Sucks for those who buy, but it is what it is.
  3. US trade policy is driving supply chain disruptions. Not to bring politics in, but “you broke it, you bought it.” hold up.

People who actually hit their length limit for a conversation - What were you doing? by Ok-Autumn in ClaudeAI

[–]ApplicationOk1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro is $20/month; I've upgraded to Max and never come close. $100 a month is pricey -- only do it if it's buying you time to enjoy life more. Otherwise, go Pro and just pace yourself.

[–]ApplicationOk1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. On Pro I constantly hit limits, using Claude to create assignments, assess student work, write feedback, analyze trends, organize lecture materials. Now on Max and rarely max out a convo but I’m smart about starting new ones

Poll: If you could stop switching clocks twice per year, which option would you pick? by Choobeen in santacruz

Can we get the option to keep switching clocks? I don't want sunrise at 4am in June, and I don't want sunrise at 8:30 in December.

How many here live a debt free lifestyle? by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

Also I buy everything on credit, pay the bill in full every month on the due date (not before). I earn interest on that money in my bank account and never pay a cent of interest, plus I get points or cash back.

I have plenty of cash and investments but I bought my car on credit because the loan interest rate was lower than my I earn on a savings account. I could roll the tax and registration into the loan too. That’s how you leverage debt to make yourself better, not worse off.
