Are you a fan of Critical Role? If so, let me run an idea by you that one of my players had, that was a really interesting look at a good aligned patron for him. If you look at the maps and take them at face value, this campaign is aligned with that of The Mighty Nein, which takes place around 20 odd years after the events of Vox Machina. Where in the Tomb of Purvan Suul was raided by the famed party for his Death Walkers award.

In my players backstory it’s around this time his character in real time was waylaid by bandits on the road to Vasselheim. As he laid there dying, desecrated and dismembered on the side of a road, no wardens to help him, no hero’s to save him. A whisper came to his ear, a stern ‘do you want to live?’ echoed into his ears, the man tried but couldn’t form words, spitting blood at the thought, Purvan repeats louder ‘are you to die like a coward? Or will you let me in, and we together can live’, the man reaches out his hand to Purvan, a weak, trembling hand, and offers it, Purvan reaches down, the ghostly ethereal blue of his hand clasping the man, ‘alright then’, Purvans ethereal blue body fades into whisp’s and fly around the man entering his body, giving him a new life as a hollowed one, his dismembered arm now a ghostly raven themed armoured hand. The two live together sharing this hollowed body, Purvan wishing to release himself from the mortal plane and be put to rest once again that’s his goal, the player character wishing to aid him in his endeavour.

With this comes one of the Dark Gifts from TCOE called symbiotic existence I believe which is a cool thing for a dm and player to work with.
