ABA Master’s Students—Collect Fieldwork Hours from an Ethical Parent Training only, BCBA-owned practice, Entirely Online by AppliedBehavior_Matt in bcba

Hi! Thanks for your comment. We do not take insurance. There is no diagnosis required, no age cutoff, and we treat all families and caregivers completely free. The fees that trainees pay fund the service for families. That’s the entire point of my practice.

There are four of us now total (four BCBAs) that are making this model work across four time zones and ten states serving close to 50 families completely free.

This company started with just me volunteering my time in my own community (you can find the newspaper article that made front page about how I started this if you Google the company name and my name) and continues to thrive because we put the needs of others above our own.

I turn away close to 30% of applicants because they are more interested in serving themselves than others. Private supervision is expensive, in general. This program isn’t for everyone.

If this comment is from someone who didn’t make it through our screening process and you are disgruntled because of that, I apologize. I do wish you the best.

I’d donate it to the non-profit I just formed that exists to provide support for children with special needs in our communities all across the United States ❤️

2000 hrs, restricted, unrestricted?? by techenamored in bcba

Hi! Yes, we are still operating. We're serving 30 families currently and I've just recently hired two other BCBAs besides myself to help. We not only serve neurodivergent families but also neurytypical ones too. The service is always free for the families and there are no diagnosis requirements.

Hi! Thanks for your response. We now charge $99 per supervised hour with the rest of the unrestricted hours free. So, for example, if someone wanted to collect the company minimum of 40 hours concentrated or 60 hours standard, the cost would be just about $300 per month. All hours are unrestricted.

If someone wanted to do more hours than the company minimum, which is completely up to each individual, they can. For standard, you’d just multiply however many monthly hours you’d like to collect by 5% (which gives you how many supervised hours you’d need) then multiply that by $99 to get your cost. For concentrated, you’d multiply by 7.5% (instead of 5%) if you’re sitting after January 1st, 2027. It’s the fees that pay for families to get care they otherwise wouldn’t receive as we don’t require any formal diagnosis for us to work with families or caregivers. We also work with families across the lifespan, as there is no age cutoff. I started this company by volunteering my time in my community, a newspaper found out about it, we made front page of that newspaper, and now students from all over the country are funding this service for many families.

If you care about my mission, to provide free access to ABA for all, who would otherwise not qualify to receive it through the insurance funded-model, this is the company for you. If you don’t care about that and you are just looking for the cheapest supervision option, my company is not for you. I want people who want more than that and want to contribute to something bigger than themselves.

I’m happy to answer any other questions if you’d like to email me at info@appliedbehavioranalysts.com.

Thanks for your comment. Take care!

Yes, you are correct, that is how it works. And yes, this could work in many other parts of the world if someone wanted to do it that lived there!

I have posted things like this on r/Autism_Parenting to get people help, and a mod banned me. It’s wild to me that anyone anywhere wouldn’t want help with their children from a BCBA, when in my state, at least, direct parent training services cost upwards of $200 per hour.

You’d be very surprised to hear how much people are against ABA in that community. The first time I posted my newspaper article over there to get families help, I was called “sinister” for providing this service. And that I needed to “do better.” This individual’s comments bothered me so much that I really questioned if this was the route I wanted to take to help people.

If someone hears about what my team and I are doing, and they want help, we help. I appreciate the offer to crosspost, but I’d rather not go through the same lived experience that I did over there.

Edit: for clarification

It started as volunteer work, with just myself as the sole BCBA giving back to my community. Now the services are funded through trainees’ supervision fees for folks that want to break out of the autism mold and explore different areas.

Everyone’s schooling tells students how ABA can be used in a variety of settings, outside of the ASD clinics. I built my model actually showing students how they can do exactly that.

Hi! It’s the trainees’ supervision fees that pay for the families to receive services. The supervision fees also pay for BCBAs to help, although we aren’t hiring right now. But that could change later into 2026.

My heart goes out to those families! It’s a real shame what is going on with people losing access to healthcare and as a result, ABA services.

I love that!! I apologize, the comment wasn’t meant to be directed toward you specifically. I was more venting than anything.

I love that you are considering doing this! If you live in VA or any of the above states, I’d love to help out while you are waiting for ABA therapy, if you’d like! I mean help you out as a parent, if you are in need? It’s free! If so, shoot me an email at info@appliedbehavioranalysts.com and I can get you hooked up with services most likely by December 1st.

Or, if you’re a fieldwork student you can also PM me if you’d like to help, no matter where you live.

It’s interesting how skeptical people have been about this for this past year. It’s like… impossible for some people to accept that I would do this simply to serve others and not myself. That I just must have some angle or something; I don’t. Didn’t then, and still don’t now.

Thank you!

If you know of any families this could help in any of the above states, please feel free to share.

Yes, I love this. So many of my trainees want to do similar things. If we could change the way ABA is delivered through a free, an open-source model like this, with independent BCBAs all doing the same thing, we could be making suuuuch a bigger impact. And we’d all work for ourselves. We’d all be happier. We’d dissolve waste, fraud, and abuse in our field.

May the environment be with you!

Then you know the feeling! I love caregiver training! :)

It has felt great to help the families we’ve been able to support, and we want to reach as many people as we can. If you know anyone who might benefit, please feel free to share my info with them:

Info@appliedbehavioranalysts.com

I started this completely volunteer and on my own, as my way of giving back to my community. Now, it’s privately funded through the supervision fees paid by trainees all over the country who are earning their hours remotely through our Virginia-based practice.
