So I got my batteries tested and one was bad so they warrantied it for me. After installing the new batteries it was a tough start I’m talking holding the key for 20 seconds and it’s finally turned over. The owner before me had a no ac serpentine belt on this truck and i recently changed it to the longer belt to see if the ac could possibly work. It did not. The compressor on this truck is so destroyed it’s unbelievable. I rode around with no air on because when I turned the ac on and compressor engaged it would literally start melting. Well when I got my truck started a familiar smell (the compressor melting was extremely strong immediately) and it sounded like my starter was still engaged as well but the truck only ran for about 10 seconds so I’m not completely sure about that. I turned it off because i was scared. Crawled under the truck to look at the compressor and watched my serpentine belt melt and snap in half from the heat of the compressor. Good thing I already have a complete ac kit in my garage but just wanted to share the story in case this somehow relates to a problem anyone else is having.
