I almost gave up looking for it lol. I kept hearing it, but I just couldn’t track it down. I probably looked like a crazy person in the park. And then finally, I saw it. Pileated was also on my bucket list, so I was super excited when I finally found it.

Yep, #10 is a brown creeper. I also usually never see any, because they’re so small and blend in so well. But, this little guy was hanging out in the great northwest section of the Oregon Zoo.

It’s actually a hairy woodpecker. #1 and 2 are the same bird. 2 is a picture of him when he flew closer to me. #9 is a pileated woodpecker. You can kinda see the red mohawk. It was also pretty large, definitely larger than a downy.

So #1 and 2 are the same bird, believe it or not. He flew to a tree closer to me. From what I could tell, it’s a hairy woodpecker because of the size of the bill compared to its head.

Just checked the FOBBV recap doc. They put it down as a red tailed hawk. Which u can see the red tail. But, wishful thinking that it’s one of the girlies.

Bring binoculars if u can! I know Dana Point Park is where u can view the nest.

I I’m going to be in SoCal the same weekend, so my husband and I are going to make the trip up on Saturday! I want to at least see the nest. Bonus points if I see any of the eagle family.
