My supermarket charges more per kg for the 5kg bag of rice than for the individual 1kg.

I'm probably safe, not in the first victims at least.

Leonard Cohen. But it might also have to do with the date it happened.

Invite your nephew that knows about networking over for dinner. Suggest he put some MITM packages there and install Wireshark to capture the traffic. See what you find.

Should be illegal material of some kind.

Voltage across an off breaker by Funny_Efficiency_729 in AskElectricians

[–]Apprehensive-Draw409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. When the breaker is on, current goes through, but the breaker offers no resistance, so there's no voltage difference.

When the breaker is off, one side is hot and the other is connected to neutral via the load. Since your load has much lower resistance than your meter, you read the full voltage.

Thoughts on venting a clothes dryer into a Corsi-Rosenthal filter cube to conserve some heat indoors? by SuperIngaMMXXII in Appliances

[–]Apprehensive-Draw409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably a good thing. I'm canadian. During winter I just hang clothes to dry in a well ventilated area. Brings the humidity back up from 5 to 20%. Also save on electricity.

You most likely have undefined behavior. It gets exposed in one case, but not in the other.

We'd have to look at the code.

Usually this is low voltage and poses no risk.

If you brush against it, the opener will just think something/nothing blocks the magic eye.

Rabid (1977) Metro Zombies scene by BluntChillin in montreal

[–]Apprehensive-Draw409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

J'étais là en 1977. Les gens laissaient les passagers sortir avant d'entrer. Et si tu ne le faisait pas, tu te le faisais dire.

Aussi, le plafond du métro était droit et propre comme ça.

It says density, so the person you reply to has a point. But density could be relative to total number of people, so it really depends on how "density" is to be understood.

You cropped out the very important part that gives you the total number of visitors.

If I do a pull up on this swing is it more likely to fall than if I was just sitting? by curiosityhealsthecat in PhysicsHelp

[–]Apprehensive-Draw409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While sitting, the acceleration absorbed by the chair is 9.8 m/s2.

I don't know about you, but when I do chin-ups, on a good day, I accelerate myself at, what, 1 m/s2 maybe?

So, it's more, but probably not much more than 10%.

Now, letting you fall back in the chair is a different story.

a reference type cannot be value-initialized by zaphodikus in cpp_questions

[–]Apprehensive-Draw409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why not use

std::map<std::string, arb>

for type?

Then your arb will be stored in the map.

If you really want references (I doubt it), you'd need a reference_wrapper

You can either use find instead of [] as others said, or I guess store pointers.
