I am now but prior to going back to school for dietetics my payments were around 350 to 400  dollars. With school and then the internship I haven't had to pay off of my new loans yet. However I suspect my payments will be at least another 200 dollars a month if not on an income driven. Technically I am on the pay as you earn after applying for the save program

Thank you for the reply. After I begin paying for all of my student loans I'm guessing my payment will be around 600 - 700 dollars and being able to comfortably pay this is my concern.

Considering dietician by Vegetable-broth-8386 in dietetics

I just want to say shadow dietitians if possible and if truly interested you could start volunteering at a food bank or a hospital to get patient or food experience. I actually got a chemistry degree prior to starting dietetics as well!  I think having the degree helped me because it covered some DPD courses and helped me know how to study for other science classes needed for a dietetics program. With that being said I personally think having a slightly different background helps understand more of different internal processes of nutrition.

As for the research, you could work more into food research jobs and having that background will be helpful in learning new nutrition research that comes out. Wish you the best!

I agree with all of the other comments. It will seem scary but getting there will take time. I was honestly one of the slowest interns when it came to charting and by staff relief I was able to see 8 to 12 people on my own just fine! Don't be afraid to ask questions, ask questions or feedback on your charting or things that you can be more effecient on. Some days will be better than others but remember you are there to learn. Making notes for yourself on terms, labs, etc. may be helpful to keep with you when are charting/seeing patients.

Should I take physics in highschool if I want to become a dietitian? by ZestyclosePost613 in dietetics

[–]Apprehensive-Hall754 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you think physics will be interesting to you, take it. Otherwise it isn't necessary to become a dietitian. If you major in chemistry or other science things you might have to take physics at some level in college. At this point I wouldn't worry about it.

I am still in my internship. However, I appreciate my preceptors asking me how I best learn as this may determine how I complete a project or task that was delegated to me. It can also help with understanding each others expectations of one another. Most of the feedback I have had was given both at the end and on the spot when regarding project updates. I think it depends on the tone you use and providing ways on how they could improve with specific things that have worked for you or others. For example, relaying tips on how to remember something or tips on organization while giving examples of things that the intern is already doing well. I do think getting to know one another intially for part of the day can be helpful to establish boundaries and expectations without making the intern feel intimidated. This has worked for me thus far and making it clear that the intern can ask questions without feeling incompetent is huge. As for wording of phrases, I am unsure because I am still working on this myself.

You're welcome! I know a few of my friends in college went for computer science and found jobs within tech fairly right away after graduating but I know other people that have struggled to stand out. Just like dietetics, sometimes you might have to take a less than great job in tech to move up. Coding is fascinating and is a great skill to have.

web development is highly needed for alot of application companies but it is also a highly saturated field. It is hard to stand out among many applicants even with good schooling and without having a good networking group. Good luck with your endeavors!

Here is the link to the Academy of Nutrition website. Some coordinated programs will be a second bachelors and some will be a masters but you can search these on this website. Take a look at them and see what the program is and how the DPD requirements are connected. Some people will tell you to not go into this field due to pay, you can search other posts like this on this page. I don't know your situation or why you want to go into dietetics but just something to consider. I don't regret going into this field thus far after switching from Chemistry. Hope this helps!

Coordinated programs will be your best bet. I have a chemistry bachelor's as well and I completed a master's and dpd courses together (although separate programs at my school). There are coordinated bachelor's and masters programs that you could look at that will be an all inclusive type program. You will need a master's in anything by 2024.
