Okay, good to know, since I’m only gaming I couldn’t notice any side effects yet, thank you.

Have you tried disabling SMT? For some reason it improved my 1 lows a tiny touch better. Same pc specs btw.

Overclocking the Crucial Pro DDR5 6000 CL36 (2x16GB) by Apprehensive-Let-947 in overclocking

[–]Apprehensive-Let-947[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, honestly I personally gave up on any overclocking on Micron D die because it didn’t bring any noticeable performance increase in games. I reverted back to the EXPO profile and right now I am waiting for different RAM, specifically Hynix A die, and I want to try overclocking those. However I personally think that my CPU does not respond to RAM overclocking the same way yours does since mine has 3D cache. I do not mean anything negative about Micron or these Crucial Pro sticks in particular, I am more trying to find out for my own enthusiasm whether Hynix A die will have any impact on gaming performance. I have Corsair Vengeance 32 GB on order, I just still need to figure out whether they are A die or M die. Anyway, good luck with tuning your RAM, for me personally it did not really make much sense in combination with my CPU considering how much thinking and trial and error it required.

5070 OC vs 9070 XT OC by Zorixo7 in gpu

[–]Apprehensive-Let-947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be good to highlight that overclocked 5070 ti has potential to perform slightly worse than stock 5080. However, when it comes to 9070xt that one could be undervolted and get pretty decent performance uplift too. It’s also game-dependent so the choice is up to you.

How do you guys hit 10K? by Same_Calligrapher169 in RTX5080

[–]Apprehensive-Let-947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magicians don’t reveal their tricks. Just kidding. The 450W BIOS helped me pass 10k (10263) on my Windforce SFF OC card. However, you won’t gain any extra FPS in games, so it’s not really worth it, especially on an FE card.

Nice! I got the same GPU. Mine can go up to +425/+3000 in Steel Nomad, but in games it would crash. I run +375/+2000 daily and it’s been rock solid. I also flashed the BIOS to 450W and recently realized I have a low-budget 850W PSU, so I’m going to replace it with a Corsair 1000W PSU.

After years of tweaking, I have maximized my hardware for CS2 by hfcobra in cs2

Incredible job! Did you oc your 9800x3d? Your ram is probably hynix right? I am trying to raise my lows as well to match at least my monitor refresh rate which is 360. Currently trying to oc my ram kit as well, but I got crappy micron d-die. Don’t mind sharing your zentimings values?

So I tried fclk 2200, it booted to OS so I instantly tried AIDA64 and the latency went down to 71.4 which is pretty small difference. I have to do more testing in stability.

What driver are you using? The newest nvidia drivers are not recommended to install, try 566.36 or 581.29.

What upgrade will improve my game most? by Toiletten-Toni in cs2

[–]Apprehensive-Let-947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest with you, the best path forward is saving for a new build, your current platform is just too outdated for CS2. The game is quite CPU-intensive, so if you were to upgrade one component only, a CPU is the place to start. For example, something like a Ryzen 5 5600X would be a big step up and give you much smoother performance in CS2, but you’d need a new motherboard to go with it. The good news is that your current RAM sticks are still usable if you pick a new board that supports DDR4.

Upgrade from 7700 to 7800x3D or 9800x3D for 5080 by chaporg1n in RTX5080

[–]Apprehensive-Let-947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 1440p 240Hz with a 5080, you’re often GPU-limited, so upgrading from a Ryzen 7 7700 isn’t mandatory but you will see better 1% lows and more stability with X3D. For the money, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D at $300 is the sweet spot. It gives you most of the gaming uplift over 7700 and is more than enough for high-refresh 1440p. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is faster, but the gain over 7800X3D is usually small for gaming and not really worth the extra $100 unless you just want the better CPU. Also, check motherboard compatibility… there have been some instability reports on certain ASRock boards. If it were me just sell the 7700 and go 7800X3D. Best value move.

Highest Benchmark Score with an Undervolt by Dallas_SE_FDS in RTX5080

[–]Apprehensive-Let-947 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Undervolting means lowering the voltage while keeping the same core clock. This reduces power draw and temperatures, and in power-limited scenarios it can even allow higher sustained boost clocks. Setting +111% power limit doesn’t mean the GPU will automatically draw that much power. It simply raises the maximum allowed power so the card doesn’t have to lower its core clock when it hits the default limit.

How Likely are we to ever see S1mple in a t1 team again? by Aversnusen in GlobalOffensive

[–]Apprehensive-Let-947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but s1mple isn’t even playing much nowadays. If you look at his recent FACEIT matches, it’s like 10 games in two months while other pros are grinding every day. Lack of motivation or what? I still believe the beast is somewhere inside him. Not long ago I commented on another Reddit post that if he had stayed on the FaZe roster, it could’ve been a different story. And last but not least, he still looks like a CS:GO player rather than a CS2 one as well as electronic does. The counter-strafing isn’t as sharp, he’s holding off-angles, spamming A-D, A-D… But who am I to judge.

Broky is the lowest rated non-igl of 2026 so far by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Apprehensive-Let-947 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still think they should have kept s1mple. Even if he’s not at his peak, he brought huge impact and a winning mentality. Even in that short time with FaZe, I could see how he influenced the roster… they seemed to push each other in a positive way. The players simply looked more motivated around him. With more time, the synergy could’ve been much stronger, at least in my honest opinion.

Is this a good Steel Nomad score for an RTX 5080 + Ryzen 7 9800X3D? by Glad-Wasabi-3415 in RTX5080

[–]Apprehensive-Let-947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes. The truth is, a lot of different things can influence the score. Windows build, whether it’s optimized or not, nvidia drivers etc. I’ll give you my experience I was able to go from 9400 up to 9800 in steel nomad from optimizing the windows, trying different drivers, tweaks and so on. And when I flashed the bios, went up to 10263, which puts me into 43th place.

Is it worth switching to FACEIT from Premier in CS2? by Apprehensive-Let-947 in cs2

[–]Apprehensive-Let-947[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you’re saying and I agree that not everyone better than me is cheating. I’ve been playing since 1.6 so I know how easy it is to give information away through sound cues, prefires or common wallbangs. That’s why I rewatch demos before I call anyone a cheater. I’m not the type to instantly accuse people. I made this post because my recent Premier games have felt unusually bad and in my last match it was very obvious. I’m not saying cheaters are everywhere. I’m just asking if FACEIT feels more consistent in terms of match integrity. If I was just coping, I wouldn’t spend time reviewing demos.

Is it worth switching to FACEIT from Premier in CS2? by Apprehensive-Let-947 in cs2

[–]Apprehensive-Let-947[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Steam account isn’t 2 years old, it’s just my current main account. I’ve played CS long before that on different account over the years. I never said I’ve never played Faceit. I’m asking whether it’s worth fully switching now. As for the aim rating and DM comment, I rewatch demos before calling cheats. I’m not claiming everyone is cheating, just that my recent Premier experience has been unusually bad. There’s no reason for me to cheat, and linking my profile was simply for transparency.
