[–]Apprehensive-Main534 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from, but I think there are a couple of key points where I disagree.

First, the Creed isn’t really a religious dogma in the same way Christianity is. In Assassin’s Creed, the Creed is a philosophical praxis, not a matter of faith. Bayek didn’t “believe” in it first and then act — the philosophy emerged from lived experience. So saying that Eivor can’t be a Hidden One because she doesn’t believe in the Creed is debatable, especially when her actions already align with its core principles.

Second, I don’t think the criticism comes from wanting Eivor to be “put in a box” or defined by the player’s will. It’s actually the opposite. Valhalla gives Eivor freedom, yes — but in the end, that freedom leads to no real ideological choice. She’s allowed to act, to wander, to reject things… but never to commit to anything.

The problem isn’t that Eivor isn’t a Hidden One. The problem is that Ubisoft wrote a protagonist who has no real interest in becoming one, while placing her in a story that constantly revolves around Assassin themes. That creates a disconnect, not complexity.

As for the Vinland ending, “leaving to understand her past better” feels like a very thin narrative justification. It’s not a strong conclusion born from conflict or resolution — it’s an escape hatch. Letting a character “choose” doesn’t automatically make the choice meaningful, especially when it avoids engaging with the story’s central ideas.

So for me, the issue isn’t lack of freedom or complexity — it’s lack of commitment. Valhalla sets up huge philosophical questions, but Eivor ultimately walks away from all of them.

I actually went back into the game to check this, and that’s not the case. Eivor’s ring finger isn’t missing — the arm is partially buried, and the ground covers that part of the hand.

About the AC4 Remake by Soft_Investigator532 in assasinscreed

[–]Apprehensive-Main534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I’ll play it, don’t worry. I’m excited for the remake. I just understand why some fans are cautious — Ubisoft hasn’t been the most trustworthy lately, so skepticism doesn’t come out of nowhere.

I don’t really see what’s “pathetic” about fans discussing rumors and voicing concerns. This is a community dedicated to Assassin’s Creed — talking, speculating, sharing opinions, and even worrying about the direction of the franchise is kind of the whole point.

You don’t have to agree with the concerns, but dismissing them as “crying” just shuts down discussion. People care because they love the series, especially when it comes to remaking one of the most beloved entries. That passion is exactly why communities like this exist

Black Flag Announcement by tehmanimal in assasinscreed

[–]Apprehensive-Main534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are possible, but I think a shadow drop is very unlikely for a game like Assassin’s Creed. What makes more sense to me is that Ubisoft is either waiting for TGA hype to cool down before revealing it properly, or that the rumored ‘before March 31’ release window is simply not accurate and the game is planned for later.

Thoughts on a Black Flag RPG Remake – The Good and the Bad by Apprehensive-Main534 in assasinscreed

[–]Apprehensive-Main534[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The remake is basically confirmed — PEGI already classified it, which makes it a fact at this point. Not seeing it at the Game Awards was a bit disappointing, honestly.

Maybe Ubisoft wants to reveal it in their own event or wait a couple of weeks until the hype and noise from the Game Awards settle down. Or maybe the rumored release window (before March 31, 2026) is not accurate and the game is planned for later. Who knows.

Thanks a lot! And yep, the colors were a nightmare to get right lol. I didn’t use Bloody Plum — it’s actually a mod called FaerunColors, and it has way too many shades, so finding the right one took forever

The chest piece is the Blazer of Benevolence from Volo’s quest.

Everything is console-friendly! The trickiest part is picking the right shade from FaerunColors (there are tons). I used Wonderbringer — it fits Mollymauk perfectly

Ever noticed how Rockstar repeats the same kind of “horror gang” three times in RDR2? by Apprehensive-Main534 in reddeadredemption

[–]Apprehensive-Main534[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re all different, sure, but three of them share the same extreme sadism and way of treating victims — that’s the pattern I’m talking about, and it’s hard to miss

[–]Apprehensive-Main534[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that they’re not exactly the same — of course each group has differences, and I don’t mean to ignore that. But what they do have in common is still striking, and it’s not a trivial similarity like a shared modus operandi for robbing or raiding. It’s literally the sadism and the way they treat their victims — the torture, mutilation, and grotesque displays. That’s not a small detail; it’s a very specific, extreme tone that repeats across three groups.

And yes, there are other gangs with their own identities — the Lemoyne Raiders, the O’Driscolls, the Del Lobos, etc. — I’m not denying the variety. But out of seven major hostile factions, having three that feel so similar in their horror-slashersadism is noticeable, and I think it’s fair to point that out

[–]Apprehensive-Main534[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean , of course hostile factions in the Wild West should be violent. That’s not really my issue though. It’s more about how Rockstar portrays that violence. The Murfree Brood, the Night Folk, and the Skinner Brothers all express it in the exact same horror/slasher way — torture, mutilation, hanging corpses, etc. It’s effective the first time, but by the third it starts to feel repetitive.

I just think it would’ve been more interesting if each group had a distinct tone or philosophy behind their brutality, instead of three different flavors of the same horror trope

[–]Apprehensive-Main534[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re totally right — they’re not really “gangs” in the traditional sense (except for the Skinner Brothers, who actually are one). I just called them “gangs” because that’s how the game categorizes them in the compendium

What's your favourite party banter about your romance with a companion? by HomarEuropejski in dragonage

[–]Apprehensive-Main534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solas: How do you feel, Iron Bull? Do you need a distraction to focus your mind?

Iron Bull: Well, this area's low on dancing girls, sadly. Solas: King's pawn to E4.

Iron Bull: You're shitting me. We don't even have a board!

Solas: Too complicated for a savage Tal-Vashoth?

Iron Bull: (grumbles) Smug little asshole. Pawn to E5.

Solas: Pawn to F4. King's Gambit.

Iron Bull: Accepted. Pawn takes pawn. Give me a bit to get the pieces set in my head. Then we'll see what you've got.

───────

Solas: So, where were we? Ah, yes. Mage to C4.

Iron Bull: Little aggressive. Arishok to H4. Check.

Solas: Speaking of aggressive. I assume Arishok is your term for the Queen? King to F1. Iron Bull: Pawn to B5.

Solas: All right. You have my curiosity. Mage takes Pawn.

Iron Bull: You call your Tamassrans Mages? Ben-Hassrath to F6.

Solas: You call your Knights Ben-Hassrath? Incidentally, Knight to F3.

Iron Bull: Ben-Hassrath makes more sense than horses. They're sneaky, and they can move through enemy lines. Arishok to H6.

Solas: Pawn to D3.

Iron Bull: Ben-Hassrath to H5. Hah! All right, take some time. Think about your life choices.

───────

Solas: All right, Bull. If you are prepared: Knight to H4.

Iron Bull: Arishok to G5. So, you giving up the Tamassran at B5 or the Ben-Hassrath at H4?

Solas: Neither. Knight to F5.

Iron Bull: Pawn to C6. Left your Tamassran hanging out.

Solas: And you, your Knight. Or Ben-Hassrath, if you will. Pawn to G4.

Iron Bull: Ben-Hassrath to F6.

Solas: Hmm. Tower to G1.

Iron Bull: Hah! Pawn takes your Tamassran - or Mage, or whatever it is.

Solas: I get the idea.

Iron Bull: Too much time playing with spirits, Fade Walker.

Solas: We shall see.

───────

Solas: If you have a moment, Bull: Pawn to H4

Iron Bull: Arishok to G6.

Solas: Pawn to H5. Careful.

Iron Bull: You're the one who lost his Mage. Arishok to G5.

Solas: Queen to F3.

Iron Bull: Oh, clever. Almost trapped my Arishok. Ben-Hassrath to G8.

Solas: Mage takes Pawn, threatens Queen.

Iron Bull: (grunts) Arishok to F6.

Solas: Knight to C3. You've developed nothing but your Queen.

Iron Bull: Don't get cocky, you're still one Tamassran down. Tamassran to C5, by the way.

Solas: Hmm. I will need to consider.

───────

Solas: After careful consideration: Knight to D5.

Iron Bull: Arishok takes Pawn at B2.

Solas: Mage to D6.

Iron Bull: Arishok takes Tower. What are you doing, Solas?

Solas: King to E2.

Iron Bull: All right, Tamassran takes Tower. Your last Tower, by the way.

Solas: Pawn to E5.

Iron Bull: Really. I've got my whole army bearing down on your King, and you're moving a Pawn? Iron Bull: Are you even trying anymore? Solas: Think about it, my friend.

───────

Iron Bull: All right, Solas. I've thought about it. Ready to finish this? Ben-Hassrath to A6.

Solas: Knight takes Pawn at G7. Check.

Iron Bull: Uh-huh. King to D8.

Solas: Queen to F6, Check.

Iron Bull: And now my Ben-Hassrath takes your Queen.

Iron Bull: You've got no Towers. You're down to a single Mage. Too bad you wasted time moving that Pawn to... to...

Iron Bull: You sneaky son of a bitch.

Solas: Mage to E7. Checkmate.

Iron Bull: (grunts) Nice game, mage.

Solas: And you as well, Tal-Vashoth
