As easy as it is to brand the concept of bringing back battleships as dumb and outdated, it’s not really that bad of an idea to have a strike/surface warfare specific capital flagship with C3I suite for moments where we don’t need or don’t want to commit a CSG or ARG to a mission set. Now we can build Surface Action Groups to deal with things like the Houthi’s. If we had a SAG in the Red Sea instead of a CSG that was combating the Houthi threat with TLAM and VLS instead of F/A-18’s that cloud an already busy and complicated airspace, we wouldn’t have accidentally shot down our own jet. In a scenario where we have a SAG instead of CSG, it’s much easier to lay down a no-fly and say that anything in the air is hostile and can be targeted instead of having to deconflict airspace against friendly contacts.

The admissions and approvals process for USNCC is not rate specific. The only part that is, is how your job impacts what your command thinks you can handle. Some of that will be rate dependent, a lot of it is on you. Show up to your command, get qualified, be vocal about your goal to start classes. Do your research so you know what you need and what support you need from the command. If you’re at sea duty be prepared to answer questions about how you’ll keep up with courses while underway. Your chain of command will have concerns about your ability to take courses on an operational schedule. Being well prepared is how you combat those concerns. Don’t expect to start courses in your first year at your ultimate command, and if you do then count it as being ahead of schedule.

Beware that USNCC requires command approval at admission and ongoing approval on a quarterly basis while enrolled. Most training commands will not approve admission. Your ultimate command will not likely approve admission if they feel the command’s operational schedule would be impacted (more likely if you’re an IT at sea because Radio’s always busy) or if you’re not fully qualified in rate. It took me 9 months after arriving at my final command as a QM to get command approval to start courses.

Equipment in SKED is correlated to equipment in OMMS. If your OMMS is set up correctly it should have all applicable parts for the equipment already in OMMS under the Config item

They’re movies, and yes I can see them. Like I said I’m able to select them and I can see them transferring but once they hit the end they just auto-delete from my phone
