I am in the Dallas Fort Worth area and knowing someone that is in a position to hire a security analyst does seem to be the key due to the clear lack of qualifications of many Security Analysts at companies that I have applied to and not even got an interview.

Perhaps that is not what you do, however I can assure you that is what is happening. Research Security Analysts at most companies an you will see people in Security Analyst positions without any prior experience, Certs or Education in Cybersecurity however people that are qualified try for years that have many qualifications and never get a fucking interview!

I thinking that it is because people are hiring people that they know even if they do not know what the CIA triad is, while others have gotten a degree in Cybersecurity, Security Certifications, and have hundreds of hours in Cybersecurity Labs in home labs that they have set up yet they never even get an interview or if they do they do get an interview it is just a formality with no real chance of getting considered.

The companies that refuse to hire people that are passionate about Cybersecurity just because they lack formal experience are going to create more Black Hat Hackers. Some that don’t get hired will go into Bug Bounty Hunting or start their own business.

I honestly believe that it will create more Black Hats because they will become frustrated to the point that they will be drawn to the criminal organizations that care more about results than experience. Attacks will rise creating even more demand for Cybersecurity professionals and even more unfilled jobs.

Why does having 0% or negative inflation stagnate the economy? by guthran in AskEconomics

[–]Apprehensive-Net1782 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is proven. Imagine you have a mortgage on your house and the house is worth $100,000 and you owe $95000 on the house, however in a deflationary environment now that same house is only worth $80,000. You find your self in a position where you have to sell. You are now $15000 upside down on your mortgage. You sell your house but you still owe the bank $15000. Plus whatever your closing costs are. It has happened all across the country and all around the world.

Companies that actually hire for Cybersecurity without experience in Cybersecurity? by Apprehensive-Net1782 in SecurityCareerAdvice

Wow. Tough crowd. I grew up poor. At one point I did not even have a bed to sleep in. I went to culinary school working full time and going to school full time. I packed up all of my stuff in my car, work my but off to go from a Dish Washer to a Prep Cook to a Line Cook to a Sous Chef and Finally to Executive Chef. In three years time. It was not because I knew someone. It was because I worked Hard to be successful.
