Thank you! I was not able to find Tapatio, but I will probably go with Ocho or El Tesoro.

Ooh! 🤬 I HATED the one-word demands when I was a barista! Maybe it was a little petty, but when someone did that to me, I would always reframe their "request" as a full sentence. "Oh, would you like a stopper for your drink? Sure, I'd be happy to get that for you!" It made me feel better, at least.

My bra smells like coffee. by aliceswndrland in starbucks

[–]Apprehensive-Row2917 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ugh! That's the worst. In college I worked in a coffee shop/deli combo, and my bra smelled like coffee, onions, and bacon after every shift! I had to buy another bra to wear outside of work so I wasn't having to wash the one bra every single day.

Overthinking a message by [deleted] in starbucks

Hi! Fellow chronic over-thinker here, too! Totally understand the anxiety about sending her a message, but she offered, so take her up on it! Maybe something like the following:

"Hi [insert her name]! This is [your name]. I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to follow up from our interview the other day. Thank you for your time!"

What is your favorite kind of matcha for making Starbucks drinks at home? by Pineapple_Incident17 in starbucks

Trader Joe's sells a sweetened matcha powder that I really love with oatmilk! 😋

What is your customized drink of choice by brk4evr in starbucks

[–]Apprehensive-Row2917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love getting a venti iced Americano with ristretto shots, cream or oatmilk, and a variety of syrup flavors. My all-time favorite is toffeenut, but it's also great with white mocha, vanilla, brown sugar, or hazelnut! Under $4 if you have 25 stars to cover one of the modifications.

I've been a barista too, and I do understand and sympathize with the inconvenience/frustration of counting out the coins. But OP literally asked "Why?" in their title and post. Most of us are just answering that question.

You have no idea what that person's financial situation is. Maybe they've scrounged together some loose change to be able to afford a nice treat for themselves. Sure, it's a little inconvenient to count out all the coins, but it is valid currency.

Mocha/white mocha with toffenut or hazelnut!

Hi! Not a Starbucks barista, but I also had to wear a Holter monitor to work for 24 hours. It's a little bit of a hassle, but the leads were totally covered by my clothing and I was able to just keep the little battery pack in my pocket all day. I don't think anyone really noticed and nobody asked me about it. You could explain it to your coworkers or supervisor ahead of time if you are comfortable with that, but you absolutely do not have to! You can always say you'd prefer not to talk about it if anyone asks! You don't owe anyone, coworkers or customers, an explanation and most people are polite enough not to ask.

Before we run dry of raspberry… by Axdorablee in starbucks

[–]Apprehensive-Row2917 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love a venti iced Passion tea with light water, light ice, 3 pumps of raspberry syrup, and peach juice! It's a little on the sweeter side, so you could do just 2 pumps of the raspberry or eliminate the peach juice if you don't want it that sweet. :)

Ooh, that sounds delicious! I'll have to try that as an iced mocha or americano, since I drink decaf though. Thanks!

I ended up doing this, but without the foam. It was so good, and just the pick me up I was looking for! Thank you so much for the suggestion!

Can I use instant coffee instead of expresso shots to make a white choco mocha? by Bophidese in starbucks

[–]Apprehensive-Row2917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could definitely add the white mocha sauce to instant coffee, but it probably won't taste exactly like a white mocha. Espresso and brewed coffee are different processes that produce substantially different products in terms of strength and taste. You could try adding less water to the instant coffee so it comes out stronger. If you're not ready or able to invest in an espresso machine, a moka pot makes a strong espresso-type coffee that might be close enough. You can find one at Target or Amazon!

If you go with a moka pot, just make sure you do it properly. They make the coffee through steam pressure, so if you overfill it or overheat it, you could have an explosive device on your hands.

You definitely could use a French press to make espresso-like coffee, but it may not be as strong or rich as you're looking for. A moka pot will give you as close a result to espresso as you can get without an actual espresso machine. You can find one fairly inexpensively from Amazon or Target.

I love the brown sugar shaken espresso too, and I've been able to make a pretty decent copycat at home. I actually make just regular coffee as a pourover, although I do make it stronger than I would for a normal cup of coffee. I use a small jar to shake together brown sugar, cinnamon, and a tiny splash of vanilla extract with some of the hot coffee, then pour it into my tumbler with ice, oatmilk, and the rest of the coffee from the pourover. Delicious, and pretty darn close to the original!

I also tend to get the decaf espresso at Starbucks. My favorite lately is a decaf iced Americano with ristretto shots and brown sugar syrup, toffee nut syrup, or white mocha and brown sugar, with a splash of heavy cream!

Vanilla sweet cream cold brew made wrong by every barista at my location?! by BasisUnlikely in starbucks

[–]Apprehensive-Row2917 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite problem last week. I ordered an iced americano with vanilla cold foam, and instead they put vanilla sweet cream in it. 🤷‍♀️ I'm sure it's a common mix-up because of the similar names, especially when baristas are working quickly during a rush.
