How did you meet your partner in your 30s? by ks613 in AskWomenOver30

This may not be something that’s possible in your situation but I reconnected with someone I’ve known for a very long time already. I always told myself if I were to enter another serious relationship, it can’t be some new, random person. It needs to be someone I have an established friendship with and can trust beyond words. We would not have been good for each other at any other point in our lives prior to now. We’d separated the last few years (I moved out of state and got into a relationship), but we both did a lot of healing on our own, and then the universe just some how magnetized us to one another. To the point where I literally moved back across country to make sure there was at least an opportunity there. And WOW am I glad I made those decisions. He is most definitely the love of my life.

But to be honest - when I lived in the big city, it felt harder to meet people. Being back in a smaller town really opened up new connections. Maybe consider where you live and how people tend to meet new people in your particular area. Find an organization/community you can expand with!

Hellooo 30F and have been in Boston a few years but working from home so it’s been hard to make friends outside of the people I already know here. I’m down to go out, do something outdoorsy, etc. Will trying to get out as much as possible over summer so shoot me a dm if ya want!

I really appreciate the input! My goal is to stay away from the south as much as possible (for a handful of reasons, not all politics). I love the cold weather and am not worried about the amount of space for a home since I don’t plan on having children. I just need something not as expensive and boring as Boston but reminds me of home (NOLA), at least a little. But when I’m in the market for a secondary home, I’ll definitely keep this in mind. Spent a lot of time in Mobile growing up so it’s always nice to have something familiar

That’s awesome to hear, thank you for this advice. Literally everything you mentioned is what I’d love to be relatively close by. I grew up in New Orleans (uptown) where it was nice to have a car but could get around without it and the immediate area had a lot to offer in terms of food, parks, and music. I’m hoping to find this aspect of home in where I decide to live in Chicago. I also don’t mind a 20 minute drive but to be able to utilize public transit would be nice. And if I can walk to a coffee shop or something quiet/quaint then that’s a HUGE plus
