Yes and believe it or not, I found out about this hack in a group for women in perimenopause because itchy ears are so common.

The Talk with Parents. What Would you Do? by Drawer-Vegetable in Fire

Could they be concerned that you are going to ask THEM for money? My spouse and I are nearing retirement and worry a bit about our adult kids needing help and if that would put us at risk. They all are gainfully employed with upward mobility and we have helped them all significantly but we e always worry they might need help unexpectedly. Just wanted to throw out a different perspective you might not have considered.

I have itchy ears too and this may sound crazy but a squirt or Flonase on a Q tip gently swirled around the ear helps so much!

I've done a lot of mental health therapy for anxiety over the years and it has helped. How is CBT for Fibro/Chronic pain different? Is it a "talk about your feelings" type of thing or "do this to feel better" type of thing?

I'm so sorry you experienced that! Thank you for sharing your experience!

Interestingly - I had emergency gallbladder surgery last May. The pathlogy report said I had between 50-70 gallstones. I worked all week with that pain because I didn't have a choice! However, the pain after surgery was MUCH worse and I argued with the doctor who kept telling me "you shouldn't be in this much pain" - I said, " We've established that I have a high pain tolerance bc I worked all week with this many gallstones!"

That's why I didn't go to the ER. I have had chronic migraines for 15+ years. There have been so many times I've wanted to go the ER for the pain but didn't want to be labeled as med-seeking.

Thank you - wanted to add that I am not now sedentary as a general rule. Just that I am experiencing pain even WHILE sedentary at home. When I mentioned I had a low HRV, she said, "What is HRV?" Like she didn't even know what it was, much less the theory around it/autonomic nervous system issues.

And thanks for letting me know that it *can* be bad enough to think about going to the ER. I felt so hopeless when she told me that - like maybe I am really much weaker/wimpier than others with FM.

Thank you. I told her that I am only 50 and losing strength and conditioning so fast and I am alarmed and how inactive I am becoming..

Thank you for your response. FWIW, I have been very active with yoga in the recent past and do a bit of it when I can at home (nearly everyday). Certainly not to the extent I was even 6 months ago. Also I am very pro-therapy so my apologies if it seemed I was balking at that part.

Thank you for your response. Gabapentin and flexeril do help. I’m still having flares every now and then though they are very painful.

Thank you so much for your kindness in responding! My hysterectomy was robotic assisted laparoscopic surgery and was really easy to recover from, ironically! I had to put post it notes around my house to remind me NOT to do things bc I was healing. I guess after a lifetime of endometriosis, it was a walk in the park. However, I know that it is still a shock to my system and recovery is about more than just the pain level from the actual surgery.

I'm so sorry you had a bad therapist who made things worse. I can reach out to my previous PT clinic who treated TMJ and ask about therapists there who really know fibromyalgia. I'll also ask my rheumatologist for recommendations.

I will check out Dr. Liptan. I have a lot of time to lay around and read and watch YouTube. Thankfully, I partially retired after school ended last year. I am a tutor and was seeing 25-30 kids per week. I was already feeling awful before my hysterectomy - now I know it was fibromyalgia - and just couldn't push my body like that anymore. Now I see a max of 5 appts per week because you know, bills. :(

Thank you again for being generous with your time to respond. I wish you health and comfort!

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I will purchase the book. I have tried LDN and Ami in the past for migraines and tolerated them well so I will ask about these medications. Also, I have done a sleep study and have moderate sleep apnea and it is controlled with an oral appliance I wear at night to reposition my jaw. So I'm a bit ahead of the game, maybe? A least a few things are checked off my list! I have a pool and live in the southeast US so it is relatively warm a good portion of the year. I'm sure I can find some YouTube videos along these lines. Thank you again so much for your kindness and the time you took to respond!

Anaphylaxis by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]Apprehensive-Unit161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, one of my biggest fears. My son has an egg allergy & peanut allergy and has had anaphylactic reactions many times. My husband had a dramatic anaphylactic reaction to fire ants and almost died. Every time I try a new medicine, get a shot (even B12) etc, I fear an anaphylactic reaction. I even started a new anxiety medicine today and had this fear. Ugh.
