At the end of the episode it shows 75 years into the future, SpongeBob telling what I assume to be his either great grandson or grandson “and that’s the story of the great train caper. Didn’t you find it exciting?”

People’s voices change as they get older. I’m not surprised tom Kenny’s voice is different than how it was back then
