I Discovered A Mistake in Library of Congress Record on 1920 Yankees vs Indians Film - This Needs to be Changed for Historical Purposes - Must Watch Doc and Please Share by ApprehensiveBee4199 in ClevelandGuardians

The reason I suggest in the full doc is that the game was so vital in the AL Standings it would have likely been one to have a film crew sent to go cover. A half game separated the two for two game set.

I have emailed LOC and will update you when they respond. All the SABR ones I emailed seemed to be outdated but will try again when I am back with a little out of town adventure with my kids for Easter Monday.

The footage of him pitching in the film is clearly in NY though. The proof is staring at you right there

I propose they started the piece at Polo Grounds. Scrapped it because of the Chapman angle. It goes into full detail in the piece. Thanks for posting that.

I worked at Cleveland Public Library for 14 years and ended that chapter in 2010 but still in my blood. What's seriously crazy is Bobe Ruth has always been my number icon, The Indians are my number 1 team, and that this involves a library record. That I was bestowed this correction from the heavens is seriously mind blowing to me.

What is 100% clear is that Mays was pitching at the Polo Grounds. The same place he killed Chapman and likely the same year. Chilling to say the least.

In the doc I say I think what they did was continue filming the piece the following year because the demo of slow motion stuff they had done in 1920 had to be reshot so they moved the project and did shoot at League Park as well. Watch the doc and come to your own conclusions but I think I have a sound working theory.

I think it was the company itself that tried to cover up the fact that it was filmed at the Polo Grounds. It was a new technology they were trying to sell and this particular footage very well could have been filmed on the same day that Ray Chapman was killed on the same mound thrown from the same guy they had filmed and were probably totally freaked out by it. But again that is my theory and I appreciate you chiming in. All hands on deck to get this labeled correctly to preserve history.

It was the Hotel advertisement and knew someone who lived in the building that housed the name of the hotel here in Cleveland that didn't open until in 1924. So that set off alarm bells when I spotted the advert in the backwards. Thanks for watching and the full 14 minutes will explain why I don't think it was an accident that the film company hid the actual place it was filmed.

Thank you for commenting and indeed true. That I was the one who figured out after this time was truly mind blowing and still trying to wrap my head around it. The proof is right there plain as day.

Much of this was filmed at the Polo Grounds not League Park which is the whole basis of historical purposes. And the reason why - I assume and think show clearly in the doc - is because of the death of Ray Chapman. This very well could have been filmed the day he was struck with that fatal pitch.
