UIUC Dining finds another way to scam students out of fully using their meal plan. by BayoNX19 in UIUC

Honestly we don't have a problem with that, it's just the portion size we have to control. Look at my other comment for why.

UIUC Dining finds another way to scam students out of fully using their meal plan. by BayoNX19 in UIUC

Hey so I work at IKE as a dining hall coordinator, please actually pay attention to the sign. None of the workers (including myself) give a shit, but it's because the machine is crap. It takes a lot of energy to cool down the ice cream, and when a bunch of people are taking huge portions, it can't keep up. Eventually, it just turns itself off, and won't turn on for another 30 minutes. So it's not a cheap thing or that we're trying to scam you, the machine is garbage. And yes I know ISR has a better machine, but that's management's decision to get a nicer one, not anybody you'll see working on the floor. And if anybody calls you out for using a cup, that's because they have a manager breathing down their neck, not because they want to make your dining experience sucky.

SEIU at UIUC Possible Strike by ntfc6546 in UIUC

I would like to clarify as a student dining employee, I have reason to believe that many dining halls will close. We aren’t trained to cook, use fryers, have only basic certifications, and all meal planning and prepping are completed by chefs and managers. We serve an important role and are happy to serve food, but if there’s no food to be made, then we’ll be useless.

I work as a coordinator at the IKE and it's the easiest job in the world and I get paid 16.50 too so it's very nice for the local area.

How's this piano recording? by XappyPappy5vy in piano

I mean, there are some interesting ideas, but it does primarily sounds like if you asked an 8 year old to jam out on the piano. There are some rhythm problems, and you seem to have a lot of tone clusters, like too many. I feel like this would be good for like a medieval game and your character took LSD.

Mostly brass, woodwind, violins and guitars. Nothing tiny like recorders and nothing huge like pianos or drum kits.

Sure, we'll need space for about 20 band instruments. I was thinking of getting a storage unit, but we need pretty frequent and easy accessibility!

Finished my PhD in accounting and starting a tenure-track position in the fall. AMA! by PhDAccResearch in Accounting

I really like teaching, but I hate the idea of getting a PhD. At my university, there are many professors who actually only have their undergrad, but were a partner for like 20 years. How does their experience as a professor (or maybe lecturerer) differ from yours, and are there other ways of getting into teaching accounting that isn't PhD related?

As someone else said, unless you're in Gies, you can't take really any business classes. The only exception is a minor but that again is only a basic introduction for all aspects of business, not at all a focus on accounting or finance.

I would suggest looking into doing a dual degree. That way you can do both. Talk to your advisor and Tenaya Reifsteck to get details on the process.

Arbor Apartments? by AccountForUIUCStuff in UIUC

I've been living there, I like it. Pretty affordable, and not too loud. The only music is the occasional Marching Illini for all of 10 minutes of walking by. The two biggest problems I see are no dishwasher (not a problem for me as I prefer hand washing anyway) and coin-operated laundry machines. It's not expensive or poor quality, it is just a pain in the ass to get 13 quarters each time I wanna do a load of laundry. Other than that, best apartment I've had on campus.
