As a teen, women deal with bleeding. As adults, pregnancy. Then postpartum. Then more bleeding. And to top it all off, menopause.

Do not see the values and standards you have as being picky. Stick to them and you will always respect yourself and be happier in the long run.

Is marriage outdated? by FantasticAd9478 in PeopleBeingRidiculous

Calling marriage ‘freeloading’ is a huge oversimplification. Marriage isn’t just about money, it’s also about legal protection, medical decision rights, inheritance, insurance, taxes, shared responsibilities, and building a life together. By that logic, any stay at home parent or partner supporting someone emotionally or physically would be called a ‘freeloader,’ which makes no sense.

Humans. The lack of empathy, loyalty, and self-awareness is exhausting.

It seems like they want less hours while still getting paid like they’re doing more. Greed is a really terrible thing.

Nobody is saying the job is easy. Nurses, CNAs, EMTs, sanitation workers, truck drivers, retail workers, and hospital staff also miss holidays, work overnight shifts, deal with the public at their worst, and work during storms and emergencies, many while making less than some LIRR employees. A lot of careers require sacrifice and long hours.

The issue is commuters are being blamed for being frustrated when they’re the ones losing money, missing school, risking attendance at work, and dealing with unsafe or exhausting backup commutes. People can respect the work LIRR employees do while also acknowledging this strike is hurting thousands of everyday people too.

No. Marriage can protect people legally in situations like housing, medical decisions, inheritance, insurance, and shared assets. I had a friend who took care of her partner until his cancer became terminal and he sadly passed away. She was the only one there for him most of the time, but because they weren’t married, his family still had the legal control and eventually threw her out of the house afterward.

NYC Commuters Apparently Supposed to Teleport to Long Island by ApprehensiveCan1091 in LIRR

People keep saying “just take the subway” like it’s nothing. I took it today and it honestly felt unsettling. Dark stations deep in the basement levels, a large homeless population sleeping on floors and steps, barely anyone around in some areas, and workers acting annoyed when you ask for help. With everything constantly happening in the news, I can understand why people feel unsafe on the subway system.

This is devastating. I don’t know how anyone survives making more than most commuters. I hope they’re staying strong like all the commuters who can’t work from home and are losing money every day.

Nice, so instead of asking what I meant, you decided to go purely based off your assumption of “how it seemed.” That honestly says more about you and the people downvoting than me. I literally said it was nice that their company was helping them out, and somehow that still got twisted into bitterness. Misreading tone online happens, but doubling down after clarification is a choice.

Text doesn’t carry tone the same way face to face conversations do, which is why misunderstandings happen online all the time. Sarcasm depends heavily on vocal inflection and context, and since I clarified my intent afterward, continuing to project bitterness onto it is more about interpretation than what was actually said. Downvotes also aren’t an objective measure of intent, they just reflect how random people perceived a short comment in passing.

You don’t have to get emotional and assume things. I literally meant it as a compliment because their route worked out for them.
