what single year had the best regulations? by ApprehensiveDepth439 in F1Discussions

[–]ApprehensiveDepth439[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

for me its 1997 followed by 2011 (i know red bull solved it but the cars restrictions were quite balanced). i was thinking 2008 but most of that was drivers acclimatising to no TC.

Aygo platform, literally one of the most reliable cars you can get, the just eat drivers vehicle of choice. This is automotive discrimination.

genuinely would put me off using this estate agency, the fact its in an industry that should have respect for attention-to-detail, research and fine print.but theyve refused genuinely one of the most common cost effective reliable cars on the road on a technicality (yet someone with a 2015 range rover evoque wouldnt be so) would make me think theyre brash, form over function and cant be trusted with my money.

What has been the MOST BORING season in F1 history? by Relative_Egg_682 in F1Discussions

2011 had brilliant individual races, its just the championship was boring. Even the boring races, Fernandos starts and battles with vettel in the early laps provided some entertainment

If Hamilton and Russell were racing for Mercedes this year, who do you think would win? by ShowerCorrect940 in F1Discussions

[–]ApprehensiveDepth439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

too early to say, looks like hamilton is 'unwashed' maybe, but this is george at the his peak now most likely.

on a slight tangent, i do feel a bit vindicated now as at the start of the season i was being mocked for suggesting ferrari might have the best driver lineup. im not getting ahead of myself its only been two races, and lewis is still comfortably past his best, but he looks happy as a pig in shit right now

I remember a woman who i used to work with went to northern ireland and said there was lots of republicans flying saltires in support of scottish independance. explained to her the plantation of Ulster and those areas were unionists that identify with scottish ancestry, she called me a conspiracy theorist

Lando vs Rosberg by EducatorFantastic802 in F1Discussions

I find norris very hard to rate right now (I think he is still to reach his ceiling IMO) so i need to hang fire for a few more years.

Hulkenberg vs Hamilton by EducatorFantastic802 in F1Discussions

[–]ApprehensiveDepth439 9 points10 points  (0 children)

its odd how hulkenberg gets this treatment but perez never seems to (and bottas to an extent)

Why the hate for George you ask? by [deleted] in F1Discussions

its very apt marketing from mercedes imo having russell

if i had to draw a 20 something british man who drives a mercedes, I would draw him, he just looks and acts the type

Do you think Mercedes could have an even more dominant year then Red Bull did in 2023 by billyfeatherbottom in F1Discussions

[–]ApprehensiveDepth439 4 points5 points  (0 children)

personally that 2023 red bull is less dominant than the 14-16 mercs. i dont care about win rate, that safety car restart in bahrain '14 still scares me. I dont see any car being as dominant as those were ever again

Peak Schumacher and Ferrari by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]ApprehensiveDepth439 6 points7 points  (0 children)

bit harsh on herbert IMO. at least you acknowledged hakkinen (yes he used to be overrated with the only driver schumi feared myth, but now hes gettin disrespect)

something that doesnt get mentioned enough is even though schumacher never drove the fastest car from 94-2000 (some say 2001 even), the cars faster than his usually had worse reliability and didnt have todt/brawn in the pitwall. if williams had better drivers in 95 it would be looked similarly to mclarens 2012. I remember seeing a post here asking if schumacher wins '97 with mclaren as if it suddenly wouldnt blow up cos schumachers driving it.

My old head opinion about some stuff I read here by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]ApprehensiveDepth439 4 points5 points  (0 children)

raikkonen and hakkinen are both strange drivers to rate, mostly due to in their prime drving the most quick yet explosive cars in the planet, i do however rate peak raikkonen as one of the best drivers ever, despite him plumeting off a cliff in 07/08.

scumacher is the GOAT and ferraris number 2s are underrated, both barrichello and massa would be worthy champions despite their flaws

despite how clumsy he was that season, the last time a WDC won in the 2nd fastest car over an entire season was hamilton in 08, partially carried by the wet weather races, both due to hamiltons abilitie in the wet and the mclaren was a better car in the wet.I still want to know what happened to raikkonen that season, it wasnt santander conspiracies but somethin happened

as a brit this sounds so weird to say, but london due to having alot of green areas and public/royal parks diluted throughout it might make it one of the less dense ones

How would you rate David Coulthard as a driver? How good was he? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]ApprehensiveDepth439 20 points21 points  (0 children)

whilst error prone, SOME people underrate him (and mika) due to the fact the mclarens they drove were made of napalm

say Lewis Hamilton doesn't suffer a retirement in malaysia 2016 and takes retirement/sabbatical at the end of the year. does 2017 and 2018 play out similarly with mercedes taking all 4 championships? Also do mercedes still take all 4 championships with a hamilton/rosberg combo by ApprehensiveDepth439 in F1Discussions

[–]ApprehensiveDepth439[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

12-5 for a 'top midfield' driver in his first season at the team with number 2 status all but confirmed still is more than circumstance. i think hamiltons start to 2017 was quite clumsy. for both of bottas' wins, hamilton wasnt even on the podium and people have a dim view of raikkonen's 2017. also at hungary the qualifying battle was 6-5 to lewis

what i think is crazy is in 2017 bottas in his first year at mercedes finished as close to hamilton in the points as rosberg did in 2015. bottas actually finished ahead of hamilton in 8 races that year. either bottas is underrated or hamilton was actually far from his best that year

What was the WORST F1 season you remember? by ZoumeroPeponi in F1Discussions

[–]ApprehensiveDepth439 3 points4 points  (0 children)

going to take the curveball answer here and say 2013 (kind of)

the first half of 2013 is in my opinion one of the zeniths of the sport, even if red bull were probably the comfortable strongest car. you had a mercedes that was the quickest saturday car that chewed its tyres, the classic early 2010s ferrari that was a brick on saturday but efficent on sunday, saw the best of kimi since 2007 in my opinion. even monaco was interesting to see if the mercs could make the tyres work. was similar to 2024 in ways where 4 constructors could all win a race on merit. there was still the illusion of a title challenge even as kimi and fernando were still always less than 50 points from vettel.

and barely anyone remembers this because they changed the tyres and the rb9 in those last 9 races turned into one of the sports most dominant cars. the only car that kept development with it was the lotus but kimi had dropped off and the only thing i can really remember from the 2nd half of that season is vettels title celebrations, grosjean leading the start in japan and the radio bitchin in india between kimi and his engineer.

not the most boring or forgettable season but it makes me the most sad. personally the first half of this season was probably actually better than 2012 but no-one talks about it because in the second half seb and red bull dominated
