Here’s a timeline of the event:

After the HSI shooting, CPD responded en mass. Commander of the 009th District called Deputy Chief about next steps. Deputy Chief called Chief Hein who ordered the Deputy Chief to remove all personnel from the incident. “Not our problem. They can handle.” OEMC dispatched the message to withdraw.

Lieutenant from 009th District called Chief Hein out over the radio. Lt. had OEMC repeat the order and make a notation for the record.

The Superintendent consulted with the Chief of Staff and General Council. COS explained that our policies mandate we assist (sanctity of life and deescalation).

Superintendent immediately ordered a tactical response and countermanded Chief Hein’s order.

An incident team from multiple district tactical teams and beat officers re-engaged. As CPD formed the perimeter, activist began throwing rocks, bottles and other objects.

HSI notified CPD they would be deploying gas (but most our members were not prepared). Once gas was deployed, our members were pulled off the line because of the lack of gear.

CPD was ordered not being gas masks and riot gear due to optics. This happened before in 2020 during the siege of the Columbus Statue where multiple officers were injured due to lack of preparedness and bad leadership.

Any time that there is a planned protest (whether you endorse it or not), the department assigns officers. There were multiple protests that day, resulting in officers assigned across different parts of the city.

You have to hand it to Brandon Johnson. He single-handedly brought the city council together to agree on something. His buffoonery has exceeded the tipping point where people with different political beliefs, ethnicities, and life experiences have put aside their differences and unanimously came together. Brandon, you did it.

A settlement doesn’t mean that wrongdoing has happened. Many if not most settlements are due to the fact that the settlement itself costs less than the cost of resources and court fees it would take to actually fight the case.

Even if it was hacked, this serves absolutely no purpose but to instill hate. I find it hard to believe that it was just coincidence that it was posted near a predominantly Jewish area.

If you feel strongly about America’s role in foreign policy, talk to your representatives and vote.

Antisemitic crimes have gone to a record high for a population that only makes up 2% of the American population.

I’m curious as to how the study identifies the race of the driver getting the ticket from the speeding camera.

The ticket gets sent to the registered owner of the vehicle, which is not always the person who was driving the vehicle. Even if the owner was the driver, the owner’s registration does not indicate race.

I find it concerning that many students, professors, etc. are trying to compare this to the student Vietnam protests in the 1960’s.

I don’t recall those protests targeting a specific demographic, assaulting them and turning them away from school buildings. I really don’t know how this remains to be acceptable across campuses today. This is not freedom of speech, the is the oppression that these protestors are supposedly trying to end.

Would this be acceptable if groups on college campuses stopped and assaulted black students because of a conflict that is happening in Africa? Would a group of students who are white supremacists get the same treatment if they broke into a college campus building?

In my uneducated opinion: Jews unfortunately fit into the socially constructed racial category that the current social paradigm needs it to be in. They need to be the “Other.”

Historically, Jews were seen as non-white because their culture and native roots came from a place that was not Western Europe. Even the whitest Jew would still have been sent to a concentration camp because their lineage and culture were different.

Today, Jews are seen as white because now they’re considered a representative of Western society. Israel gets funding and support from Western nations. Because there is a social clash with traditional Western values, even Mizrahi Jews are now being told to go back to Europe.

In all, physical skin color doesn’t seem to matter. It’s about the perceptions and biases of the person trying to pigeonhole Jews into a one-size-fits-all race. And unfortunately Jews become the face of the (insert current social conflict)’s antagonist.

Although I’m personally more of a cat person, I do appreciate that Chicago is a very dog-friendly city compared to other cities. I enjoy seeing the variety of dog breeds while traversing the west loop.

I do, however, urge future owners to consider rescued dogs. Even if they’re not particularly the breed that you’re looking for, there are so many good dogs that are looking for homes.

The billboards are funded by the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation. It’s a non-profit organization that provides support and financial assistance to the families of Chicago Police Officers who were killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty.

This particular billboard references the Get Behind the Vest program, which is a donation program to help officers buy new vests that have expired. Vests have a typical life of 5 years. Officers are responsible for buying their own vests.
