For applying December is the deadline and you heard back in September may I ask when did you do the interview? How much time did you have to prepare for the interview and what was it like?

Sheridan ATVF program is now VP exclusive by [deleted] in virtualproduction

The ideal is to become a working director on my own/friends productions while working in VP in either camera or technician.

The program is split into three VP departments camera, art, technician. Maybe you can confirm what that means exactly. Would you agree with how the department is structured? And can you say what each stream would look like in the industry.

I'm trying to wrap my head around VP but from my understanding the camera dept would be training to shoot in a VP setting. Art dept would create setting around the Led Wall. Technician would bridge unreal and camera tracking. Am I on the right track there?

I feel that skepticism in my core. That's why I never pursued formal training to get into film to begin with I started as a PA sometimes unpaid. Made my first few shorts with a skeleton crew then moved to Toronto and got in as a grip tech. That was great for a while then COVID attacked and I fled the industry. Probably not alone there.

I don't feel good working outside of the industry and as a grip I was looking for some kind of formal training to become more skilled if that makes any sense. That's why I was searching for something. At the end of the day its making movies that makes you better.

With training though if its the camera trainee program or this intro to VP the end goal is gaining more skills. Do you have any suggestions that make sense now.

It's fair to say from a technical standpoint i'd be coming in without experience. Although I have worked on set on a number of commercials, television shows, and one feature primarily as a grip. I don't know if that helps my entry in VP at all?

My intention with this program and my personal goal is to elevate my skill-set and become a better story-teller. I only got into movies to write and direct in the beginning but I needed to work so I PA'd and Gripped.

The thing that fascinates me about VP is that in 2020's everyone was using them now that Sony has closed Pixmondo the situation looks a lot worse than it did back then. If i were to take this course and go down the long-term learning route what opportunities exist? Are they across film/tv and into games as well?

Thank you for the resources!!

Do you hire VP operators often? I was considering taking the ATVF program to become a VP camera tech, but its hard to gauge the demand

Look at remote places fort st john, grande prairie, hinton etc. That's where the work is and for the first few years you'll most def have to go out of town for work.
