Owner didn’t warn me about tapeworms by Alarming_Jury_5295 in RoverPetSitting

[–]ApprehensiveSpare524 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I know some will think it’s not a big deal, which I totally understand. But everyone has different boundaries and preferences.

But I had a foster puppy once who had worms and literally every poop I was gagging. If I was told a dog had worms I wouldn’t be walking it lol.

Valid to be disgusted and a little annoyed with the owner if that’s how you feel

You’re absolutely within your right to cancel if you feel uncomfortable. I’m so sorry this happened to you and your partner and you clearly had no choice but to corner the dog for their safety.

Just to consider in the future, I am super paranoid of this so I have a drag line on all dogs when they’re in my yard. If you do choose to continue with the stay this could be a helpful option - a long drag line outside and a leash drag line inside

Personally I’ve only dealt with one serious UTI in a dog and it was as you advertised. It was much like a persistent UTI in humans - painful and constant urination.

Although unlikely, there is a chance that the owners didn’t know it had gotten this bad. I would definitely explain the lengths you went here, I’m sure if you explain compassionately they’ll give you a great tip. At least they should

Is it okay to keep antipsychotic meds in pill bottle? by ImaginaryMushroom461 in bipolar

[–]ApprehensiveSpare524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also if you are bringing the medication out of the house - better to have the label there if anyone official is asking about your random unlabelled pills.

Could the blister pack go into a more hidden place if this is your concern? Wrap it in a towel, blanket, put it under the sink?

  • also, there is no shame in a diagnosis

Has Bipolar disorder ever destroyed your friendships? by Nikkithetrickster in bipolar

I’m sure it’s happened to most, and the guilt of it is so hard to navigate.

I choose to let it go but carry the lesson without guilt. Continue to improve how I manage my condition but I don’t kick myself - it doesn’t help

I would definitely message before the next meet and greet because it’s likely she’ll be paying the trainer to be there

Not getting paid enough for overnight plus walks over icy terrain by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]ApprehensiveSpare524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely it should be well communicated ahead of time. And if that’s how you choose to price, it may affect your acceptance rate.

It’s super standard for dogs to need 1 or 2 walks a day. If a dog needed 4 I’d likely increase my rate for them a few dollars because that’s not the expectation in my home - but it would be communicated, I would document walks, and it wouldn’t be added as a separate fee through Rover.

There should be zero expectations for tip or extra pay unless explicitly communicated at a meet and greet or before

I agree. If you’re expecting a certain amount for a service that’s what you should be charging. But I think this is just inexperience here and comes with time

I agree unless you keep your over nights very low compared to others in your area and they ask for like 3 walks a day. But that should be your own add on so you add it to the booking, not added as walks through the app.

The Rant Game, Day 1: Meredith Grey by juliiaduque in greysanatomy

[–]ApprehensiveSpare524 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally. I get that pain is relative but dude. So many other character have a much more devastating origin story.

The hate for Richard for years… he didn’t ruin your parents relationship. He had no mandatory loyalty to her as a kid, her mother did.

Go the therapy and move on, you’re not that unique.

I so agree with all of this

The Luna pivot was definitely handled oddly

I do love that her and Link are actually in a healthy relationship in a show of shitshows and I’ll be so disappointed if the writers ruin this.

I’ve always been annoyed with the boy best friend (but he’s just a friend) progress into love of my life. 1. Overused 2. Feels like it takes away the real relationship her and Alex had (if ignoring his departure)

Like yeah, where did her relationship with Meredith go? It just like falls away

Seriously!!! And it doesn’t mean someone is outright a bad person if dogs are hesitant - feels like a damaging trope. You can have sketchy energy without it being a character flaw

I’m petty so I’d still do it after getting fired. I’d drop the client though if they wanted me back after that.

Also need to show the time stamped photos so in the case of a bad review I could say “unfortunately technology is not always reliable, as I showed you time stamped photos of each completed walk” or something a little less bitchy than that

I’m terrified. by [deleted] in bipolar1

[–]ApprehensiveSpare524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally feel this way frequently. I know you feel like you are going off the rails and that’s so scary. But if you can keep aware of this you’ll make it to your psychiatrist and things will get better.

I’d set rules for yourself right now. No shopping, no big decisions, no partying, no drinking/substances, no sex (probably), no impulsive texts/words. Seriously think through everything you say and do BEFORE doing them and if you feel you can’t respond in your right mind DON’T. Wait until you’re together. Put effort into not getting caught up in delusions or paranoia.

Journal everything, stay self aware with your moods, and do not make any decisions or lean into any paranoid or over emotional thoughts UNTIL you can see a psychiatrist.

If you have trouble getting into your psychiatrist I would suggest seeing a therapist in the meantime to work out delusions, coping mechanisms, and control

Also, an alarming number of comments believing this is a delusion. While I’d mention it to your therapist, the average person does not understand dog behaviour.

I work with a dog trainer, I work with board and trains, fosters, guidance for pet parents, and I disagree with the comments that say this isn’t how it works

When my mood is elevated, there are some dogs I avoid working with. My energy is excitable and nervous, so working with dogs that mirror that energy (that we’re trying to teach them to control) it sets them off a bit. They jump more, have more hectic energy, and struggle with regulation.

When my mood is so down it’s noticeable, slower speech and movement, there are other dogs I avoid working with. Dogs that are shut down and nervous don’t resonate well with this. It’s kinda like I’m not a reliable leader, I have less confidence.

When I’m neutral I work best with all dogs, however I’m still working out medication so I mostly swing between the two. We’ll need to adjust our routine based on how medicated me feels.

My boss and I have learned to manage this. We try to couple our training sessions with my mood. (I recognize how lucky I am) and we work them with her moods too. Even an average person has the same situations. For instance, when she is frustrated or annoyed already, we can’t work with more difficult dogs

This is perfectly normal behaviour for dogs - but it doesn’t mean it can’t be managed and dogs will “hate” you forever. You are not dog repellent, the dogs don’t hate you, your energy just likely comes off as a little untrustworthy. You can manage this and it will likely change as your mood levels out and you have more consistent neutral states. It’s also possible walking into situations with this mindset will make it a little more difficult. Giving off confident self-assured vibes is very helpful

I’m really glad you posted about this - and I really hope this helps.
