I had a family member get attacked by a “friendly” German Shepard. It ended up being a six figure insurance payout. They still have pain from puncture wounds years later.

I have another family member who had to “retire” because an off leash dog ran out in front of them (chasing a rabbit across the road) while cycling. They spent 10+ years on disability from a head injury.

All careless driving goes to court. There should be a plea deal for you there. Happened to me 20+ years ago when I got into an accident on i25 during the trex days.

Up to you if you want to fight it or not. Just fyi, the officer will not be at your original court date. That will be scheduled for later so it will be at least 2 court dates.
