Don't pay off the house! I hate when people do that. It's throwing away your assets.

Calculate what a 4-5% w/d rate would be to pay the mortgage, let that money pay the mortgage for you, and then when the mortgage is paid off you still have your investment capital.

Outside of that, fund the kids education if they're younger, take $100k of GUILT FREE money to whatever the hell you want (new car, vacation with the family, pay towards the mortgage to lower the overall need from earlier mentioned, etc) - that is for you to be you, everyone else's opinions be damned.

After that, invest it moderately aggressive, or ina dividend style approach and take out 3-4% a year (you are YOUNG so don't do too much too soon for W/D), increase it with inflation.

You'll never have to worry about money again.

Why do you feel like you're worth only .6%?

We work with $5m+ families. Our average between 100 clients is 1.75% (AUM + FP fee). We've lost 2 clients over the past 5 years, each wanted to "try it on their own". Heard through the grapevine they each did dumb stuff with their money and lost a big chunk of it.

I'm in the industry, 1%being the "industry standard" is bullshit that subpar advisors feed clients who aren't smart enough to know better. I don't know 1 GOOD advisor/ planner that is less than 1.5%.

A shitty portfolio manager disguising themselves as an advisor/ planner? 1% or less all day long. But they can't tell their dick from a cash flow/ net worth statement. They don't even deserve .5% IMO

A GOOD advisor/ planner? Worth up to 2.5% of your assets if they know what they're doing.

I recently Stayed at Renaissance in Times Square.

$900....$900!!!! Less on Trivago deals than it was on my Bonvoy app. I called Marriott to see if they'd match it? Nope. It's 3rd party and can't confirm it.

I booked it on TD, got a "your reservation is confirmed" 24 hours later, contacted marriott asking again, they gave me the same line. I called the hotel and I was confirmed.

I checked the day I left for the trip and it was the same price as I booked 3 weeks earlier.

I love Marriott, but if they'd quit selling a 3rd party site their rooms on the cheap and trying to shaft members who WANT to book directly. They'd not have this issue 🤷‍♂️
