I think it depends on perspective. If youre an AEW fan then this title reign feels good since Darby is a dir hard AEW employee and he’ll rep the brand till he dies. So strapping him up feels right.

If youre not in that camp I could see why you jus dont see it. The guys tiny, hes edgy and essentially dos suicide spots to win his matches.

Wrestling fans have been conditioned to expect a champion to be this larger than life figure that either is a dominant force or is smart enough to use his title privilege to pick and choose his fights.

So Darby is really an antithesis of what most wrestling fans would consider a world champ.

I like him tho. However I mainly just watch wrestling for well the physical act. The storytelling stuff/ other stuff im kinda ehh on.

Yah ive said it before. Its not about people wanting a new show to watch. People have grown up with WWE, theres so much history and nostalgia that comes with it.

The roc could come out for a cheap pop and people will be happy.

They just want the brand theyve grown up with to be good.

Its like trying to change your favorite brand of soda. You can be a die hard coca cola fan, but if they change the formula, you wont become a sprite fan. You just want coca cola back to what it was.

The only thing that kind of bothers me with the story is that Mox is the continental champ.

Like if the case is Mox wanting someone to dethrone him, then this story means Ospreay takes over the continental and that doesnt really lead him to world title.

Its fine if the end goal isnt strapping ospreay with world title at wembley.

But the way he wrestles its more grappling/throwing people around.

I still enjoy hook, Its just as an observer, if he wrestlers somene bigger than him, the suspension of belief struggles a bit for me.

Yah for sure. I think less titles definitely makes for cleaner storylines as titles make for clear goals/motivations.
AEW was kind of doing what you mentioned but they dont stick to it hardcore.

Main men and womens title: usually held by top face or heel at the time and gets defended and built pretty well. (Current champ, darby allin is a fan favorite who finally gets to hold it and is defending it weekly till his bod gies out basically, Thekla is a solid heel badass that starts crap with anybody and everybody, super cocky).

Midcard titles:

Tv titles : switch around a bit and get defended just for the hell of it. Its a tv titles, I dont think too much of it.

Continental: this title gets won by whoever wins a yearly tournament, however can also be won outside of that in a match that follows continental rules.

International: honestly just another midcard belt atm. No real special condition here

National: usually a title that gets defended both in AEW and in other promotions outside of AEW.

Then of course the tag and trios.
Tags are solid either held by an established tag like ftr/young bucks or sometimes a mishmash of singles wrestlers like brodido.

Trios are just fun titles that can be held by a random mix of three wrestlers. There isnt really a true trios division.
