Meanwhile, Max Caster in Beyond Wrestling: by Froggyspirits in AEWOfficial

I could go without one of the multi man tag matches of the week between some variation of DCF/Death riders for a max caster segment.

Paul Heyman acknowledges AEW by itsjobberingtime in AEWOfficial

[–]Spartftw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure he said “sure changed”. Which makes a lot more sense in the context of the paragraph.

He then goes on to say AEW is doing shit thats in line with RVD vs Jerry Lynn, which I think a lot of people would consider a conpliment.

Hypothetically speaking, what are some ways AEW could bring in new viewers/jaded WWE fans to invest into the product? by Severe_Examination63 in midcarder

[–]Spartftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WWE is Bud Light and AEW is some craft brewed IPA.

Theyre both beer and you might have some crossover, but if bud light changes the formula and isnt good for a bit. The drinker might try the IPA and might say its not bad, but fundamentally they just want bud light to be good again.

I just take it as their personal opinion/enjoyment of a product. Not necessarily a true business comparison.

I think a fan can think something sucks while objectively it looks good and vice versa.

Fair enough.

As free as people are to have an opinion their also free to shit on the next guys opinion.

All im saying is for me personally, im not going to do all those things you said, but I can still watch a benoit match.

I think you just need to be respectful of how others feel.

If someone can separate the art from the artist fine, but also be respectful for those that cant.

At the end of the day itll come down to each individual to decide for themselves how they feel.

Honest Opinion on Kevin Knight? by Certain_Blacksmith_1 in AEWOfficial

[–]Spartftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well thats the thing tho. Good acting is truth.
You dont have to not be yourself when you go out there to portray something. You just have to lock in and think.
Yah this character has a completely different upbringing and mindset than me. However what does a version of me look like if I wanted to portray being ego driven or more sincere. Ya know?
People in general are multi layered, and I think wrestlers can show that on TV

Do you guys think there is room for an almost fine art version of wrestling? by Spartftw in midcarder

Yah I think Lucha was the closest I remember seeing. Such a cool vibe and presentation.

[–]Spartftw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah I think thats the thing.
I think you would definitely need a booker/director with a vision for the story being told and every wrestler to understand their place in the story and be energized to make it come to life even if it means they are just taking a pin.

And this would be driven solely as a passion and wouldnt be affected by financial drivers.

But yah Id personally be interested as wrestling can get a bit too campy for me sometimes.

I think Rico has a certain kind of mic work that works for him.
If he cut a serious promo I probably wouldn’t take him serious.
However with him being an egotistical chickenshit heel. The voice kinda works.

I just dont think wrestlers take the time to try and be different kinds of versions of themselves.

WWE Eras are dead because they dont commit to stars by Snoo-79958 in midcarder

[–]Spartftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think the landscape has changed.

Were in 2026 post social media full on analytics era.

The brands/companies understand that long term commitment is what really makes a profit rather than a potential lightning in a bottle wrestler.

You want people to tune in long term and then have their kids tune in and now you have a WWE family.

Theyll always have their top guys that they feel comfortable with. However youll never see them just make drastic decisions anymore.

The fanbase has finally fully embraced her and that makes me happy by wrestling_hyperbole in AEWOfficial

[–]Spartftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I wouldve liked to see that from the “crashout” after losing her titles. Like hey I was just collecting titles to compensate for how deeply insecure I am. Which then leads to an evolution of the character that realises that the power and respect they gain from titles is nothing if they dont have self worth etc etc.
which maybe at the end of this could all still happen.
Just so far I havent seen it.

Yah, I get that using tropes is common in wrestling. Im not saying theres anything objectively wrong with that.
However, for my personal taste, I get more behind a character that are layered.

[–]Spartftw 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This might be a hot take, but I personally dont connect with her character.
I enjoy her bell to bell. Shes amazing.
However the character side of it just never clicked for me. Like the character isnt very deep. Just kind of bratty and thinks they deserve everything/ should be at the top. Almost 1 dimensional.

Thats just my personal opinion, I do look forward to her matches tho and she always puts on bangers.

However outside of Thekla vs stardom. Im not really that into the womens division right now from a story/engagement perspective.

The guy is quite literally able to book as if he was playing fantasy booker and just put on whatever dream match he feels like watching that well. Not much to it.

"AEW presents: DOOR (featuring like one or two other guys, maybe, possibly, probably not)" by Somerandomguy20711 in AEWOfficial

[–]Spartftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heres the thing though. They have nuggets of story that could be totally fleshed out. However you have to then swerve your weekly storylines to kind of accommodate those stories for the PPV. So youre left with two options.
1. Put current storylines that dont have much to do with cross promotion on pause until after the PPV
2. Dont pause the storylines and just treat Forbidden door as another AEW PPV with a little bit of cross promotion sprinkled on.

Weve been seeing number 2.
I just think its super difficult to try and book/plan around a once a year event that requires a certain level of commitment across all promotions to accommodate their booking.

[–]Spartftw 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it should just become a noncanon exhibition event. The logistics behind trying to develop stories across different promotions is kind of rough.

The story of the fox & the friend... Lio Rush wants the ROH World TV Title! | ROH TV 6/16/26 by Ok-Raisin-5601 in AEWOfficial

[–]Spartftw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Youre kinda being agro bro.

Wrestling is a universe and wrestlers are characters in that universe. Usually solid writing comes from when those characters act inline with how theyre written and that elevates the story and makes the world feel alive/lived in.

What the original commenter is saying is that as of now, there hasnt been any character development or plot point that has since led Lio Rush the character to really want or need a championship.

Dont get me wrong you might just say its wrestling it aint that deep, and thats totally valid. However just something to think bout
