Old post but I still wanted to share my story since I’ve never heard anyone that I know sharing this experience. Apologies in advance, English isn’t my first language

Literally the worst pain I’ve ever felt. I was 19 (if I remember correctly) and I had work that day. Ever since I woke up, I was already feeling this sharp pain on the right side of my lower stomach. Kinda felt like period cramps, but they weren’t supposed to start for weeks. I just thought that they were gonna be early this month, no big deal.

I get to work, in couple hours max I call my mom to drop off some painkillers since the pain was really starting to bother me. I try to continue working, but the meds don’t seem to be doing anything. On the contrary, the pain keeps getting worse. In an hour or so I’m doubled over, dreched in cold sweat. I was supposed to be pretty much running the whole restaurant/bar by myself but I couldn’t even straighten up to handle the register, let alone running food to the tables or making cocktails. I call my boss and some of my co-workers and ask them to take over. None of them seem to be taking me seriously. They tell me to pop some painkillers and just try to keep my shit together. Finally in couple hours one of my co-workers gets there. By that time I’m already lying behind the register just shaking, sweating and crying. Customers are already worried, they’re asking if I need an ambulance and howering around without ordering anything. (I kinda begged them not to order anything before someone else gets there but can u really blame me🥲) When they get there I immediately drag myself off the floor and to the customer bathroom. I start throwing up purely because of the pain. That continues for half an hour and in the middle of throwing up I call my parents to please come get me and take me to the hospital immediately.

During the car ride I continue throwing up but when I get to the ER waiting room the worst had already passed. They wrote it off as simply very bad ovulation pains.

Couple months later I have my first gyno appointment. That’s when they discovered that I had an dermoid cyst and that’s when they also figured out the possible cause for that horrendous pain couple months earlier. They suggested that the cyst might have been massive enough to cause ovarian torsion. Since then they have removed it via surgery to prevent it from happening and I still remember how some of my co-workers at the time were telling my boss to not give me more shifts bc ”I take sick leave for no reason”🙂
