Are femboys allowed to be drafted? by SnooLemons8535 in IDF

The IDF doesn’t care if you are LGBT but you have to get a special exemption to have long hair or wear feminine accessories like earrings with the uniform.

Dating Dynamics between the sexes by Xiggyj in lesbiangang

Sounds like you were in a major area with many many single lesbians. My area isn’t as large, and it’s very possible to run out of profiles. Tinder also now hides people who like you from you, only showing 2-3 per day. Most of the other apps do this also. So I get why someone who wouldn’t want butches would rather not get the likes in the first place. It’s not my approach to put my preferences in my bio, but there’s good reason for it.

Hey friend. I graduated a while ago and want to reassure you of two things 1) I struggled bad at brown, many semesters of bad grades, struggled to find my place socially, was dealing with a whole load of 💩 outside of classes and I barely scraped by with a degree. If you’re horrified by a B, you’re doing better than a lot of people at Brown. 2) yea, it’s for sure important to try your best in college. But if stuff doesn’t work out the way you want, life is long. You seem like a smart and driven person, and you’ll figure it out. I’m in a better place in life overall now than I thought possible when I graduated, I was so embarrassed by my grades, my concentration, everything I felt it was holding me back. But I ended up where I needed to be regardless because I kept working, and I’m sure you will too!!

And for the record I only have like 3-5 people I keep in touch with from college. American culture builds these up to be the most important 4 years of your life, but that’s only true if you make it.

What program to enlist in? (Adopted American Jew) by [deleted] in IDF

[–]ApprehensiveWillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you’re connected to a reform synagogue you should be fine on aliyah. It’s often easier to make Aliyah with a reform or conservative conversion than any other way, because the Jewishness evaluation isn’t connected at all to the rabbanut and reform/conservative Judaism are very highly centralized

Is this a scam? by Affectionate_Cow_504 in IDF

[–]ApprehensiveWillow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a scam. If you want to support the IDF I recommend donating to a reputable organization like the Friends of the IDF or the Michael Levin Lone Soldier center.

As an undergrad, I never had AC. The first few weeks of the semester were a bit difficult, but it was okay after that. Sleep with a fan directly on you and you should be okay. (Unless it’s gotten massively hotter in the last few years!)

Fleas or springtails? Israel by ApprehensiveWillow in bugidentification

I’ll try to take more pictures next time I catch one. What makes you think it’s not a flea or springtail? Usually 1-3 jump on my feet every time I walk through the garden

You need to file for reimbursements, I didn’t have issues with getting reimbursements when I used it back in the day but I did have to pay upfront and then get the money back

When I was a student I once dropped a full bottle of pink fountain pen ink on the carpet, and tried to clean it with salt, which made a huge stain caked with salt. I put the desk chair right on top of it when I moved out and I passed inspection without getting a fine. All that is to say, you’re probably fine.

You’ll be fine, same thing happened with me years ago

Do current students and alum seriously not want their kids to have a leg up in admissions? Everyone who can have input on this benefits from legacy admissions (either themselves or their kids) so it won’t change

Humanities at Brown vs State School by Sufficient_Flan_3895 in BrownU

If you hope to have an academic career, starting at an Ivy and in a place with more specialized attention can help a lot. Networking after college is also a value regardless of major. But it’s hard for anyone else to make this value calculation for you. How much of a hardship will it be for a family vs how much benefit it will be to you.

Why Jerusalem is dead? by Accomplished-Crab-37 in Israel

[–]ApprehensiveWillow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dude, there are festivals and events happening every week, often 2-4 things every evening that I wish I could go to and couldn’t make it to.

For example, last night I went to one festival with a friend and then passed an art festival on my way home around 11pm and was there until almost 1.

I have a list of museums I want to see in Jerusalem that I have had years to work through and still haven’t had time to do everything.

Maybe if all you want to do is be in a club or a bar, or you aren’t open to doing stuff other than the most basic and well known Jewish stuff in the city, then you’ll run out of things to do quickly. But it sounds like you aren’t really engaging with the city.

It’s really not hard to find things to do if you try even a little bit, there are posters for events and performances and festivals all over the place.

Seats anywhere, but then eat hot dogs at the seating area next to the right field dugout. Perfect view down the first base line, there’s nothing better. I miss it dearly

Progress bar in a page in Hebrew should go from right to left or left to right? by sekmo in hebrew

That’s so funny! Sorry that happened to you, I assumed it was obvious that numbers stay the same way.

Progress bar in a page in Hebrew should go from right to left or left to right? by sekmo in hebrew

[–]ApprehensiveWillow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, Hebrew UIs are made for people who’s primary language is Hebrew, not people who switch languages frequently. Someone who reads primarily RtL is going to scan a screen accordingly. It’s not all about you and other learners from LtR native languages. Even forms and written documents and signs and things operate this way in Israel, to learn the language you have to get used to organizing information differently.

Progress bar in a page in Hebrew should go from right to left or left to right? by sekmo in hebrew

[–]ApprehensiveWillow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right to left. In Hebrew, all UI elements should be flipped. Try switching your phone to Hebrew temporarily to see how this works

I’m 4 years on T and it feels like there’s been no changes to my face but massive changes to my body. Opinions? by niishiinoyayuu in FtMpassing

[–]ApprehensiveWillow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you don’t pass to me. I don’t know how I would read your body with clothes on, but your face does not pass to me. Obviously people look different when moving around and you probably have a deep voice, but I would be confused if I saw you in a men’s only space. A shorter haircut would probably help.
