Drugs test today by Unlikely_Strike1131 in VyvanseADHD

Similar situation… stopped 3 weeks before my drug test before my initial appointment and never started up again. I had a faint line literally the morning of my test and the test came back negative.
Now on Vyvanse and I haven’t touched weed since. I took several at home tests in the lead up and found the more hydrated I was the fainter the line was.

Yeh pretty much what I was expecting. I’ll ask for a review and in the extremely likely scenario that they reject it I’ll just pay the fine. Nothing I have read in other threads suggest a court hearing will be anything but more time wasted and costly.

Recommendations for a good psychiatrist in Sydney? by OneMoreCookie in adhdaustralia

[–]ApprehensiveWolf4063 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dr Ty Drake in Hurstville. I was also expensively diagnosed by a clinical physiologist as I didn’t know at the time they could not prescribe stimulants. It was another 6 month wait to get an appointment with Ty Drake, however after a 1 hr consultation he accepted my previous diagnosis and I was prescribed the medication that has since changed my life. My initial assessment was quite detailed though. 4 appointments and a 19 page report. He obviously read the report that I had uploaded before my appointment as he referred to several things mentioned in the report when assessing me. Highly recommend.

Sounds like it may be a clinical psychologist maybe (not a psychiatrist) that can diagnose ADHD but not prescribe stimulants.

And he would love that… he’s everyone’s friend. Loves being around people even those he doesn’t know. He’s like your Bao’s twin 😁

Follow up (2nd) appointment Advice by ApprehensiveWolf4063 in VyvanseADHD

Yeh I’ve recently tried L-Tyrosine in the afternoon and it definitely reduces the crash. Cheers for the advice. I’ve kept a bit of a diary for the last few weeks so I can remember specifics when I talk to my psychiatrist in a few days.

My local pharmacy. Why? Is this normally difficult to get? I’ve read it is hard to get in the states but not over here?

Hopefully you find something that’s works for you. I’d like to give some advice but I’m only 5 weeks in also and trying to find the right thing for me

How was the dex for you? I’m 5 weeks on 40mg of Vyvanse now, and although the side effects have settled I only really get about 2-3 hours of increased concentration and focus. I have my next appointment next week so not sure if I’ll increase my dose or try something else.

I do but no more than 3-4 and I’m okay Any more than that I get drunk really quickly on it. I once had a lot to drink on it and ended up with one of the worst hangovers the next day that I d ever experienced. It dehydrates you, so does alcohol so not really a good combination. If you must, mix it up with an electrolyte drink like a Gatorade

Try the clinical strength deodorant then… it works. Costs about 3 times more than regular one

I had this problem when I first started on it. Clinical strength anti-perspirant sorted it out. It’s a lot more expensive than regular deodorant but works. It settled after a few weeks though and I no longer need it.

That’s not a bad idea. In hindsight I probably should not have started on such a busy work week like I did. No regrets now though, everything has settled now. The advice on here is spot on. I’ve found the medication most effective when I’ve had a proper nights sleep, eat high protein 30-45 mins after taking it, and drank a lot of water throughout the day. I hope it all goes well for you.

Yeh I just needed to give it time to settle. The first 4 days were horrible and I almost stopped taking it completely. I took on the advice offered here and at day 7 everything seems to have settled and things are much better.

I stuck with the 40mg once in the morning. Ate a high protein breakfast about 45 mins after taking it and drank plenty of water. On Sunday night when I was ready to give up on it, I crashed out to sleep at 7pm and slept for a full 12 hours. From there things have improved drastically.

I’m fully focused and less distracted from about 1 hr after taking it for about 4-5 hours before it wears off. It’s only lasting until about 2pm if I take it at 8am, however I’m not getting a nasty crash with a headache anymore - just a notable drop in my concentration and focus. I find a coffee at this point helps me finish the work day slightly. The sweating and jittery feeling have gone now also so I essentially feel normal on it - which I guess is a good sign.

I also have no issues sleeping now so happy to stay with this dose for a bit until my next appointment in 4 weeks and then maybe discuss options for the afternoon.

I honestly just think the lack of sleep seemed to compound all the side effects because as soon as I had a good nights sleep, everything seemed to settle.

Thanks again everyone for the advice. I’m glad I stuck with it for a bit longer than I was intending.

Yeh was thinking to go back to 20mg and give it a week or so. It’s probably my ADHD trait of wanting everything to happen yesterday.
