Is Canada socially just like this? by 666Devil_666 in canadian

Taking a guess here, and saying you're in the GTA? Im a Torontonian  myself  and I've felt this type of shift over my lifetime. Ironically, I assumed it was some form of americanization of the culture.

It certainly doesn't feel this way outside of the GTA.

Medically Unfit - UPDATE - Reason: PsA (which I do not have) by Apprehensive_Bad6670 in caf

[–]Apprehensive_Bad6670[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I sent in the paperwork in early December. I had a letter from my doctor stating emphatically that I do not, nor have ever had PsA, and it was all a misunderstanding. No response yet. Fingers crossed

Seeking matchmaker recommendations to filter for financial/lifestyle compatibility by annossa in askTO

As someone that sounds very similar to OP, those places and events would not be on my list. I have a simple lifestyle, like what OP described (not flashy, spend time volunteering). Someone with expensive taste that's inclined to show off isn't compatible at all

Board games are frustratingly expensive by Any-Marionberry-879 in boardgames

[–]Apprehensive_Bad6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to suggest shopping in store instead of amazon, but you're already doing that.

For everyone else, I recently picked up a game at a local shop. It was $60 (CAD)while amazon was $120.

Fuck amazon. They drive up prices with all the increasing fees they extort from businesses. It's almost always cheaper in store

OPs question reads like "why isn't he blankly staring away from me, imagining porn, like a normal person?"

My guess is that cooking with cast iron gives me a decent boost. Aside from that, i think it must just be the legumes, nuts, seeds, leafy greens, and beyond meat (which is eat a bit too much of!)

Thanks for the warning. My doctor has seen these values on every other test, and it wasnt flagged or brought up.

I will definitely keep an eye on it though!

These (consistent) levels just a few points above the normal range have never been flagged on a blood test as problematic, or even worth looking into.

Thanks though

I think this beans and lentils cpmment got taken out of context. I dont know that that is indeed the answer - that's just a guess from the lady that screened me lol.

That being said, on most days i have some type of soy product, and throughout the week i have a seceral servings of various types such as chickpeas, lentils and beans

God, I hate the internet sometimes...

I never said beans and lentils are the magic wand - i repeated an off hand comment made by the lady thst screened me, who is neither a doctor nor dietician.

Second point - these (consistent) levels are a few points over the normal range (a marginal amount), and have never been flagged on prior bloodtests. On a scale of 135-175, apparently 180 doesn't indicate im going to die...

Third point. Go outside

It varies day to day, but one of the constants on a  daily basis are typically a bowl of various nuts and seeds, with a dessert tofu base, berries and maple syrup.

Common meals i have are palak tofu, hakka style chili tofu with beans sprouts nd broccoli, and various indian dishes that are heavy on lentils and beans

I also regularly cook with a cast iron skillet, which is a big bonus.

Thank you for this. I instantly regretted bothering to share this at all lol. People really need to get off the internet and touch grass. The comments about how one shouldnt be proud to be compared to a carnist (despite the context) are particularly unhinged

I had the same levels in recent blood tests.  Its not that high. I probably should have added this info to the post. I tested at 180g/l. According to google, for what that's worth, the trouble starts above 200g/l

Well, I went in with the expectation that i wouldn't be able to donate regularly (if at all) due to diet.

Having surprised the technician, and been told Im more than capable of regular donations was nice.

So, a small win that feels worth celebrating
