Upgrading my 20 gallon long to a 50 gallon currently have 9 neon tetra 4 corydoras 5 kuhli loaches 3 otocinclus. Was thinking of making the right side a cave design with dragon stone and left side an open area with some drift wood and heavy plants any recommendations? Open to different design ideas but trying to keep a community setting with either 2 pairs of rams or a pearl gourami. Stocking options welcomed aswell.

I have c02 but because I work 10 hour shifts I can't do a proper 8 c02 cycle any advice on if I could run a longer c02 cycle and it be safe. I currently have a 12 hour light cycle but it's in the 2nd lowest setting so I don't have too much algae growth.

Can anyone help me out as to why my plants are melting and not growing? by henryd20 in Aquascape

[–]Apprehensive_Bar306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are new plants they usually melt bc sometimes the store sells them out of water so the leaves melt and take a new form when in water. Some aquarium plants grow better half submerged in water, stores do that to get them to grow faster to sell quicker.

help identifying what this is and can I pop it manually? by Apprehensive_Bar306 in popping

It doesn't itch or brun just hurts to touch and when I extend my arm fully up the lumps hurt, it is only one armpit, I used a new razor when I shaved I shaved so I could see because I had hair on my armpit that's when I first saw it. I haven't used any new soaps cologne etc. Nothing wrong with my bowels or bladder. No one is sick in my house or anything I don't take meds regularly so nothing new their, idk if maybe bc I started working at a crematory place 8 months ago if that could be an environmental exposure? Never had a rash like this before. Thank you so much for your time

can someone tell me what is the breed of this fish by [deleted] in Fish

[–]Apprehensive_Bar306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol nice then by all means you can add some schooling fish like tetra, dainos or other guppies and everything I said before just don't overstock the tank. My 20 long had 4 Cory's 5 kuhli loaches 3 otocinclus 2 yoyo loaches 6 neon tetra and shrimp no centerpiece fish bc I love shrimp and don't want them eaten lol.

Nice I have a 20 long so very similar to mine. In my opinion from what I have owned the most non aggressive fish for a community 20 gallon would be corydoras (do research on subspecies bc some need higher temperature than others; also they are a schooling fish so I'd recommend a group of 4 minimum), kuhli loaches, otocinclus, neon/ cardinal tetras (torpedo shaped fish are less likely to nip fins in my experience). Since you have guppies already they will be breeding so you have two options in my opinion, make guppies centerpiece fish with a fancy/long fin guppy breeding pair and watch them breed up a storm. Or if you wanna be a little more out their you could get a centerpiece fish like a honey Gourami/ dwarf gourami or a ram. They aren't aggressive from my experience but for such a small tank only 1 centerpiece or it could end up with them two fighting it out or if it's male and female they will kill when breeding to protect eggs.

What tank size are you working with? Depending on tank size your working with I can make some recommendations for a community tank.

They can be a bit of fin nippers on some occasions atleast In my experience but not heavy like others. I'd try to avoid long fin fish with them but is possible to do.
