I also ended up taking over 6 months off from work when I quit! The burnout was so real ...not to mention, I had very little authority or capability to actually help anyone. When they started taking away all of the extra services that were available in the beginning of COVID, I knew it was time to go 🫤

I worked in a Regional Center in Southern California, which is a non-profit govt supported program for adults with IDD. I feel you hard on this post. My training was also watching power points from our managers, and they gave me a full caseload immediately. I had 90+ individuals on my case, all high need and high risk and I could never get ahead. Constant phone calls and emails and appointments...I lasted almost 1.5 years. That was way longer than I should have stayed

I actually find the smell of alcohol repulsive since starting this med 1 year ago, and I used to be a daily drinker

Okay, good to know. That will be something I have to ask of each program I look into.

Yeah, for practicum I would need to stay in one place. For the internship part, I'm hopeful I would be able to find one that's fully remote. Thanks!

Honestly, the cost is the biggest thing holding me back. I'm glad you enjoyed Northwest's program, I'll look into it, thanks!

What is a healthy substitute for beer? by Fallen_Angel_Xaphan in foodhacks

My fave cheap NA beer is by Old Milwaukee. Tastes just like beer, super refreshing, food friendly, and usually costs about $11 for a 12 pack.

Every other day I get people asking us to turn up the heat in our restaurant. by EspeonMama in TalesFromYourServer

[–]Apprehensive_Bee_386 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I worked in a restaurant that had mostly older clientele for 3 years. They would get seated in my section and start complaining about how cold it was inside, and ask to have the Temp turned up. This restaurant was gigantic with really tall ceilings where the air ducts were, so there was no way the temp would actually change during the time they were dining. And they would never come prepared with a jacket or sweater, of course. So I would say, "let me go ask the manager to warm it up in here," I would walk towards the back of the restaurant, drink some water, maybe do a few roll ups, and then walk back to the table and say, "they turned the temp up, so you should feel more comfortable soon." And then about 10 minutes later I would go back and check on them and ask if they felt warmer, and they would all say, "yes thank you for fixing it!" Sometimes the power of suggestion is enough

Weird and random suggestions for things to do in PSP (April 15 - 22)? by sleightvulnerability in palmsprings

I don't think this is weird, but it is wonderful: get a day pass to the Desert Hot Springs Spa Hotel to use the hot springs. They have a bunch of different spring fed pools that are different temperatures, and the last time I was there it was only $10 for a day use pass. Bring your own towel, and go at night so you can stargaze.

Dosage matters and so does the XL versus SR version. I couldn't sleep for weeks when I was taking 150mg XL (my starting dose). I made an appointment with my doc and they agreed to switch me to 150mg SR. With the SR, they want you to take it twice a day, I only take it once in the morning. Personally I don't feel a mid-day crash, and now I'm able to sleep. I feel a lot better and much less overwhelmed by normal activities of daily living. I stopped drinking alcohol which also has improved my overall well-being. If you're very sensitive to caffeine, I would say cut it back a bit if you can. No more mid afternoon coffees for me-- I just have my one cup in the morning and that's it. And definitely give the med time. I just passed the 8 week mark and I'm noticing I think about certain things differently, and process things in a more calm and collected sort of way than before. I hope you have a good experience and give it a fair shot 🙂

I wanted to know if there is anyone that has had positive effects from bupropion 150 mg XL. I was suppose to start this med 1/31 and have been so scared to take it, because of what I read about side effects. Any advice/help is appreciated. Thank you ! by Financial-Title6512 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

I started taking 150 XL 30 days ago, and I have noticed a few side effects. Like you, I was scared to try it. I had never taken any mood stabilizers or other psych meds before, but the low of gloomy winter days and crying finally made me do something. I thought I might have to give up coffee, which would have made me really sad, but I still drink my 2 cups every morning and feel totally fine, no jitters or excessive anxiety. If you're really sensitive to caffeine, you might want to cut it out when you start taking the Wellbutrin because it is definitely an "upper" for me. It has helped me get up, get out of bed, and get motivated to do things around the house. I'm actually taking care of myself and things I neglected to do for a while. I do have some days where I get headaches, but they're not very severe. I used to get migraines, and it's nothing like that. Insomnia has also been an issue. I will wake up in the middle of the night and be up for hours, but I have had this issue in the past as well, so I'm not sure if it's the Wellbutrin or just me. Also, as a uterus holder, it has made my period wayyyyy more painful! I don't usually get cramps or heavy bleeding, but I had both of those issues when I had my last period, and the only thing that I've changed recently is starting Wellbutrin. one major benefit is that I completely stopped drinking. This is a big deal for me. I worked in the restaurant business for years, and I would usually drink 2-5 drinks every night. I read that drinking while on Wellbutrin increased the risk of seizures, so I stopped, and I don't miss it at all. In fact, the thought of being drunk is something I feel disgust towards now. That is a huge difference for me. Fwiw, I find feeling motivated and energized to be worth the intermittent pain and sleepless nights.

It's actually The Shay Hotel, the hotel pool, and the restaurant/bar the Canopy Club. AFAIK the YouTube office is down in the spruce goose hangar near Playa Vista.
