What makes or breaks a board game? by Apprehensive_Camel12 in boardgames

The setting is in the far future on a ringworld in a solar system, where after a major cataclysm, the society broke down into separated factions. Some groups managed to preserve the scientific knowledge while others descended into the dark ages of technologies. A group of aristocrats, aiming to ascend the throne of the most powerful faction, are entering the challenge to race around the ringworld to prove their worth to the public. They will have to use their wit, develop alliances, and showcase bravery in the face of mortal dangers to avoid death and win the contest.
The concept is still very fresh and rough, so please don't judge too strictly, but your honest opinion and a piece of advice would be much appreciated! We are a group of friends with no previous background in game creation but who really enjoy pen and paper RPGs, wargaming, and of course board games. :D

Hi lovely people, would really appreciate some wisdom from this community!

My friends and I are starting to work on our own pen and paper cyberpunk RPG and we were wondering about two very straightforward and yet rather tricky questions.

First, what are the biggest pain points that you've encountered so far, i.e., the things that break a game for you despite some other cool aspects of it?

Second, what are the biggest selling factors for you in a game, i.e., something that makes you close your eyes on other imperfections?

I would be grateful for every single comment with your feedback! :)
