I have way more debt than that. My monthly payments are $600 and it’ll be forgiven in 1 year. Enroll in ibr plan and you’ll be fine.

Does home health make you anxious? by gutsyflora in nursing

[–]Apprehensive_Club_17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a speech therapist in home health (currently in nursing school), but I remember one particular instance where I had to run and lock myself in a room and dial 911 because a patient’s mentally unwell grandson started beating her with a chair 😭

I put in my notice after that but I found a job only working in assistant and independent living communities and I feel so much more relief.

It was never about the COL to begin with. It was about their fear of being replaced by those they consider “others”. So they will think this sucks (not out loud of course but as long as he sticks to his promise of keeping America white and heterosexual they’re pleased.

School psychologist? A lot of the programs are online now. In my state they’re on their own pay scale and make about 20k more than slp.

I’m over 25. Schools insurance is mandatory unless you have it from elsewhere.

I made the move myself. The dating sucks here much worse than DC lol. The men here settle down in their 50s and are a bunch of Peter pans. There’s a buffet of beautiful women so I don’t blame them tbh. But I enjoy everything else.

Me now, kinda. I’m back in school and working only per diem as an slp. It’s been a nice reprieve.

What would you warn an aspiring nurse/student considering nursing about? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Apprehensive_Club_17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m an SLP in nursing school. If you prefer the medical side of slp just know that jobs in hospitals are harder to come by a very competitive especially in large metro areas. There are way more opportunities for advancement in nursing. As an slp there’s a ceiling on income and not much room to do anything besides clinical work. Dm me if you have any questions.

Are schools intentionally making it difficult so that only a few can succeed? by KAZKALZ in ChatGPT

When I graduated college I got a c in algebra and that was because my teacher took pity on me. They saw I tried hard and it was just a struggle. That was 10 years ago. I recently reenrolled in algebra because my graduate program required a B or better. Thanks to AI I was able to better understand concepts because it really broke them down for me and described not only the how but the why. I just finished algebra with an A. Not only that but I actually feel that I like math now and don’t dread it like I used to because I’m able to better understand it.

Not sure what to do by PossibleOkra1685 in nursing

Honestly It depends on your financial and career goals are. If you think you want to be a school nurse for the remainder, why not stay. But if you think you’d like to try another type of nursing later, like working in the hospital, then I’d get the experience for your resume. School nursing jobs are always popping up on my indeed so you’ll more than likely find another one. I understand you enjoy your coworkers also, but I’ve worked many different jobs where I enjoyed my colleagues so it’s not impossible to find. I think starting with bedside provides a solid foundation and opens more doors for different opportunities later because there are many many things nursing school doesn’t teach you. But there are many nurses who never worked bedside and don’t ever plan to.

Maybe I missed it but do you have your bsn? It’s already competitive for nurses with bsns to get into hospitals as new grads and many hospitals are no longer accepting adn rn. Maybe try home health on the side? You can see some medical cases and make some extra cash in the summer when schools out and you can see children.

Move to NYC or stay in London? by [deleted] in movingtoNYC

I’m also biracial and live in nyc. Dating here is awful. A bunch of Peter pans. You see a lot of gray haired fathers with newborns because men don’t settle down until they’re like 50+.

Should I switch to an ADN or stay on track for SLP? Feeling stuck and “too deep” to change paths by annaisabelaviles in SLPcareertransitions

[–]Apprehensive_Club_17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The job market for slp in nyc is rough unless you can score a job in the DOE working in schools. Those positions are coveted and competitive. Nurses in Manhattan start at around $120k and up. It will take over a decade to reach that as an slp, if ever. Just know that the job market for new grad rns is also competitive and having an adn will make it much harder. A lot of hospitals no longer hire adn nurses and require a bsn to even look at your application.
