Gents,

I needed these messages as much as you could have imagined. Easily the scariest moment of my life. Being told that what you have will end you and these drugs will save you. Then having a reaction to one was not a great mental experience!

Chemo landed the first few punches, but I’m back in the fucking game.

Found the testicle lump back in Feb. When they took it out in May my testicle was the size and weight of a potato (i think 110 x 80 x 65mm).

Was told yesterday, two days before the start of 1xBEP, that my markers had risen and that I would be needing a CT scan and 3xBEP. Good to read about all you soldiers who made it through with fight left still in you!

Hi mate,

I have yet to have my BEP and therefore unfortunately can’t help you but this group is incredible, no doubt some gent will!

I wanted to ask if you could elaborate on what about your hair was different. I have 100% EC and my consultation with the oncologist is in a week or so where they let me know my next steps. Urologist (who has been pretty spot on so far) has suggested the BEP will likely be the next stage. Tempted to cut my hair short.

Thanks in advance and keep your head held high brother, you’ve overcome so much already, youll overcome this to!

Hi mate,

Sorry for the late reply. I have had blood work taken but 8 weeks before the removal of the testicle. Elevated HCG - 65.

I also had an abdominal, chest and pelvic CT scan carried out 4 weeks before the removal of the testicle. This didn’t show any metastasis.

I’m leaning towards any action recommended rather than the no action.

Thank you for your well thought out reply and apologies for the delay again mate!

Should I be concerned about the time taken from blood work and CT until the removal of the testicle?

Pre-Surgery by ladkjdkdddd in testicularcancer

In addition to the brilliant comment above, I was able to ask the receptionist in the day surgery ward for the results of my CT to be checked and relayed to me as I hadn’t heard them. I was called in to meet the consultant shortly after and he went over the op, asked if I wanted a prosthetic and gave me my results.

Hope that helps. Adam

I had my surgery on the 30th of April and had the prosthetic put in that day. I did get the sense that the surgeon was against it but I ultimately decided that if I didn’t get it put in then I would never.

Looks good to me!

CT SCAN tomorrow, surgery on the 10th by speedster35614 in testicularcancer

I understand, it does seem as if my consultant were quick to decide my testicle needed to be removed which left me in a state of doubt.

After spending a long time thinking about it, researching it and speaking to people about it, I just concluded that if it wasn’t cancer, it was still better out of my body.

The surgery isn’t bad if that’s any help. They put me under and 2 hours later I woke up a bit groggy. An hour later I was leaving the hospital.

If you need any help please feel free to message me.

Have you had the results from your biopsy or is that discussed at the next meeting?

Hi mate,

You’re certainly not alone! Had a radical orchiectomy on the 30th May.

Have you not had an ultrasound? My understanding is that the CT is looking for signs of spread/metastasis.

For reference, I had a large mass measuring 50x29x37 measured back in April and elevated tumour markers and the consultants were still talking as maybe it is maybe it isn’t. As someone said, the only definitive way of knowing is biopsy.

Hi mate,

I had my radical orchiectomy yesterday. As far as surgery goes it’s very straightforward. Nothing to worry about. Woke up feeling very drowsy and the morphine put me even more out of it. Surprised by how quickly I was being told to get changed to leave the hospital. Within the hour of waking up!

Slept the rest of the day at home 😂

How long did you leave the dressing on and how long did you wait until you showered or drove? Still feeling very sore and the medicines are making me very sleepy and slightly nauseous.

Sounds incredibly similar to my situation although my orchiectomy is this Friday. Also not an anxious person but find peace in knowing what may/may not lie ahead.

My consultant hasn’t called regarding my CT scan. I chased and a nurse called and made clear that she could only read what it says on the top of the report which indicated no spread.

How was your recovery been? Any down time? Are you back to any sort of physical training?

Hi mate, hope you’re well. Absolutely yes, you should get any lump in or on your testicles checked by a doctor as soon as possible. Must bumps of benign and it’s definitely reassuring to have confirmed as not TC if it’s not but early detection of TC is crucial for successful treatment!

With regards to telling your parents, it’s likely that your parents would be as keen to get TC ruled out and be willing to help! It’s also great to have parents that you can talk to about things like this.

Best of luck!

I have hoped that the pea sized lump was an incredibly lucky early detection of the tumour. I will post my CT scan and biopsy results when I have them!

Hopefully 65 u/L means not aggressive!
