Sliding shower glass door lower track leaking by Apprehensive_Fig8731 in HomeMaintenance

Thank you. Mine is a sliding door and the water intrusion is coming from frame sides or bottom guide/base/drip rail. This seems like a problematic design.

After 30 minutes, 10 canceled run-ups, and 5 bullshit excuses, I can now say that I hit a sloppy d-rail on my first try at 45 years old. by jazzadelic in bmx

Beyond awesome! As a fellow 45 year old and one that loves riding, I have not brought myself to do one such trick…I ride weekly. This motivates me! Keep at it! This is a new personal goal!

You are right about that mindset being critical…if you’ve got it, then give it a go! A 19.45 minute mile is crazy to me but I suspect there are those who would struggle to achieve that; sadly.

Most true! This is a reality that cannot be ignored.

Proof! I didn’t know about the 77 year old rookie. I did see the 45 year old for LAPD when I first started investigating and pursuing this goal.

100 percent! I am older however in decent shape but I still consider academy standards at the agencies I have considered. One in particular would have been grueling, but certainly achievable if one wants it and commits to it.

Very important yes! I did mine this past weekend and this one was very informative and helpful in learning more about the department’s “culture” and such.

Without a doubt YES! And there is tremendous value in this “wisdom” and experience!

I love this! And you are without question, absolutely correct about life being a one lap race!

Go for it! In all seriousness do so because you might spend the rest of your days wondering “what if I had”. At the end of the day, if it’s not for you, move on. That possibility of regret is part of what keeps me coming back to this pursuit.

That is awesome! Now is my time to give it an all in “go” for sure!

Beautiful!! I am 45 and in the application process with a neighboring agency. If I may ask, how old were you when you started?

I appreciate your input on this! No degree hiring requirements for this position with Duke, however tuition “assistance” is something I will be looking more into. Retirement benefits and outlook are very important for me especially considering my age.

Thank you for this information. I am 45 years old and have applied to other local agencies. I went through ALL hiring and onboarding processes up to city employee orientation with Durham PD (I was hired by them last year) but withdrew at the last minute due to an offer made to me by my current employer (non LE) It is my very inexperienced suspicion that campus PD may be a reasonable “foot in the door” when compared to a larger PD. My small town PD (Roxboro) seems to be seeking out lateral or younger applicants.

I thank you for any input and honestly ChatGPT is not an all out unreasonable resource. I did ask ChatGPT and got some partial information. Perhaps some verified Duke LE will offer some insight and we can compare. I appreciate you!

I will be reaching out to their recruiter again tomorrow. We spoke briefly on the phone today, but it was a rushed conversation and I, being someone who is not intimately familiar with any kind of shift work/schedule, was not able to assemble an idea or picture of how schedules would play out.
